144 The Next Day IIII

Mission Text

A new type of enemy ship has started to teleport the Kaiju known as Erginus. This massive monster must be their trump card. I can't stand these damned invaders. Time to show them who's boss.

Mission Start

Captain: Let's go! Destroy the invaders!
Captain: Eliminate the group of enemy ships before our air forces arrive!

(Join the Former Captain's Team)
Captain: An honor to see you!

Soldier: Erginus is in the path of the Attack Team!
Four Stars Pilot: This is gonna be over in a flash.
Four Stars Pilot: Outta my way.
Soldier: That's the customized unit "Four Stars."
Soldier: Which means it's piloted by Lieutenant Dan.
Four Stars Pilot: I'll handle this.
Four Stars Pilot: Step aside. You're in the way.
Four Stars Pilot: I'll secure the path. Go.
Four Stars Pilot: Relax. I won't step on our hero.
Four Stars Pilot: I'll handle the Erginus. You destroy the enemy ships.
Soldier: Enemy ship has activated its teleporter.
Headquarters: Shoot down the ship so they can't teleport more troops.
Captain: Ignore the Kaiju! Take down the enemy ships! Prevent them from teleporting!
Maj's Subordinate: The front of the ship is its weak point. Wait for the front hatch to open and attack the shining part.

(Destroy the Erginus)
Soldier: Erginus has been defeated!
Four Stars Pilot: Crush the target.
Soldier: That's Lieutenant Dan for ya!
Four Stars Pilot: Resource consumption is intense. Standing by.

(The 2nd wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: Erginus approaching.
Four Stars Pilot: I'll take care of this.
Headquarters: Leave the Kaiju to Barga units. Bring down those enemy ships.

(Destroy the Erginus)
Soldier: Erginus eliminated!
Soldier: Lieutenant Dan does it again.
Headquarters: Wait in the rear, Barga. Conserve your power.
Four Stars Pilot: Lemme check the damage. I'm coming down.

(The 3rd wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: Kaiju approaching!
Soldier: Kaiju incoming!
Four Stars Pilot: Crap! Not again!
Four Stars Pilot: Barga, prepare for battle operations.

(Destroy the Erginus)
Soldier: Erginus has been killed!
Four Stars Pilot: I took care of it.
Four Stars Pilot: Power bottomed out. I'm leaving the rest to you.

Professor: The Ring may have appeared, but humanity still maintains superiority. They failed to rewrite history.
Professor: Today's the day. If we hadn't attacked the Ring, the accident wouldn't have happened. But history has been set now. We won't have to travel back in time again.
Professor: Time won't be turned back anymore. But the Ring--the time machine--is still in good condition. We must destroy it before it's used again.

(Annihilate all the enemies)
Professor: No more time travel accidents. We will destroy the Ring, once and for all.

145 Operation Ring-Cracker: Part 1

Mission Text

Their attempts to alter history have failed, but I'm sure they'll try to regroup and do it again. We have to destroy the Ring here.

We know the Ring's weakness. Taking one down is simple if we can just send an attack unit right below it. But it seems they've finally figured that out as well... They've increased the number of units guarding the Ring.

We'll move in via three routes in order to break through their defenses, forcing our way in from all three points at the same time. If even one of our units can make it, we've won. You accompany the route 1 team.

We don't have a way to turn back time now. This is where our journey ends.

Mission Start

Soldier: The Ring's right there. We're first to arrive.
Leader: Route 1 here. Seven klicks to the Ring.
Leader: Garrison detected at the front.
Headquarters: Bargas will lead the way.
Armament Barga Pilot: We'll secure the path. Attack Team, follow from behind.
Armament Barga Pilot: I'll punch a hole in their defenses.
Major: Battle has broken out everywhere. Our diversion succeeded.
Headquarters: All right.
Headquarters: The Ring is isolated. Now's the only time we can get close.
Headquarters: Our goal is to break through enemy defenses and escort the Attack Team below the Ring.
Headquarters: The Ring is actually a giant time machine. It's not made for battle like the Mothership. Once the Attack Team arrives, victory is ours.

(The 1st wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: The enemy's here!
Soldier: Enemy has strengthened their defenses! A much larger force than expected!
Armament Barga Pilot: Copper Cannon ready. Infantry, stand back.
Armament Barga Pilot: Fire!
Maj's Subordinate: Copper Cannons landed a hit on the enemy.
Leader: There's a path forward! Attack Team, advance!
Leader: Now! Move in!
Headquarters: The time machine is made for a very specific purpose. It has little combat capability. What's more, we know the Ring's weak point. A large force isn't necessary. As long as we can get below it, it can be destroyed by just a few units.
Soldier: Enemy forces approaching. They're not afraid of the Copper Cannons!
Headquarters: All units, attack.

(The 2nd wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: Enemy ship, incoming!
Soldier: They're activating their Teleportation Device!
Headquarters: The Primers' ship can travel through time, going to the past and changing history. That's their strategy. Visitors from the distant future--that's what the Primers really are.
Headquarters: Think of the Ring as a relay station. They need it to travel with exact precision across a hundred thousand years of history. They start in the future and go to any time period where the Ring exists. From there they seem to make small jumps of a few years at a time.
Headquarters: Without the Ring they can't travel to a specific time. Their planned invasion relies on that degree of precision. Without it their plan will crumble.
Headquarters: Today, we reach the end of a very long battle.

(The 3rd wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: Enemy robot units approaching!
Soldier: It's the robots! They're here!
Soldier: They have a huge army!
Soldier: We can't advance!
Soldier: How're we supposed to break through this?!
Maj's Subordinate: They have cannons on their legs. Aim for the legs.

(The 2nd wave of allies appears)
Headquarters: Hurry. Support the Attack Team.
Exterminator: Extermination Team is here.
Exterminator: You're late. Is this what you call "full speed ahead"?
Exterminator: Multiple houses were destroyed. Even if we win we're gonna get demoted.
Exterminator: Leave career planning till after you've survived. We're up to our necks in enemies.

(The 4th wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: They're coming from the sky!
Soldier: Flyers detected!
Armament Barga Pilot: Can't land a hit on the flying ones. Withdrawing.
Armament Barga Pilot: Eliminate the flying enemies.
Headquarters: Never dreamed they had such a huge defensive force. Guess our surprise attack in small numbers backfired.

Headquarters: The Ring's defenses are stronger than expected. Eliminate enemies before moving forward.

Soldier: Route 2 here. Blocked by Kaiju and can't move in.
Soldier: Route 3, engaged in combat! Enemy garrison bigger than expected!

(The 5th wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: More enemy forces incoming!
Soldier: Flyers approaching!
Soldier: More are coming! Way more than the intel said!
Headquarters: Don't think about trying to break through. Destroy the enemies.
Armament Barga Pilot: Shit! I'm not protecting the Attack Team, they're protecting me.

(The 6th wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: Dropship coming down!
Soldier: It's a K-Kruul! Kruuls are coming!
Soldier: We can't break their defensive formation!
Headquarters: Forget breaking through. Engage the enemy and protect yourself.
Headquarters: Didn't expect them to have a defense like this.
Major: Goes to show how important the Ring is to the Primers. It's their relay station for time travel. If they lose it, their whole strategy collapses.

Soldier: Route 2. Taking hits from the Aliens.

Soldier: Route 3. Lost half our tanks. Retreating.

(Eliminate the enemies)
Maj's Subordinate: Enemy ships are gathering in the sky overhead!

(The 7th wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: The enemy released an Anchor!
Major: They seem to be surrounding the Attack Team.
Soldier: A Teleportation Device!
Soldier: They've got us surrounded!
Headquarters: Shit. We didn't break through their defenses--we walked straight into a trap.
Headquarters: All units, engage. Protect yourselves.
Soldier: Enemies are appearing out of the Anchor.
Major: We can't even escape if we don't get rid of that Anchor. Aim for the top and destroy it.
Headquarters: Aim for the Anchor. Destroy it.

Soldier: Route 2. Retreating while protecting Attack Team.
Soldier: Route 3. Multiple casualties on Attack Team.
Headquarters: Their defense is strong. Think they figured out our diversion scheme?
Major: Possibly. Primers do have a certain ability to know the future. We should keep that in mind.

(Each Armament Barga is Destroyed)
Armament Barga Pilot: Barga 1, taking serious damage!

Armament Barga Pilot: Barga 2, in major trouble!

(Each Proteus is Destroyed)
Exterminator: Unit 1, majorly damaged. Withdrawing.

Exterminator: Unit 2, cannot go on. Retreating.

Exterminator: Unit 3, major damage. I'm out.

(Losses to allies)
Soldier: Attack Team has taken devastating damage.
Headquarters: The Attack Team is in no condition to fight. We're about to be annihilated.
Maj's Subordinate: That one soldier is still fighting.
Headquarters: Facing this many enemies is a lot...
Professor: Please don't die. It's all I ask.
Headquarters: But there are no units to provide relief...
Grim Reaper Leader: We need to provide escort to the Ring, right?
Spriggan Leader: This is a job for us.
Sergeant: This is an emergency. Continue fighting.

(Annihilate all the enemies)
Major: Barga and Proteus Teams have taken severe losses. Cannot continue fighting.
Headquarters: The Attack Team has taken too much damage. The plan is a failure.
Professor: Storm 1 is safe. We can pull this off.
Headquarters: No. The other Attack Teams were destroyed. There's no one to offer backup.
Professor: Listen. You're dealing with an expert at this strategy. Storm 1 has taken down the Ring over and over again. Just provide support.

146 Operation Ring-Cracker: Part 2

Mission Text

Routes 2 and 3 have been annihilated. Only the route 1 team made it.

Fortunately...you're with them. You're a pro when it comes to this operation. Go and destroy its weakness, the control unit, from below. Do that and this will all come to an end.

Mission Start

Sgt's Subordinate C: One kilometer to the Ring.
Sgt's Subordinate A: So we're the only ones that made it through the encirclement.
Sgt's Subordinate B: We're the only ones who can keep up with the chief.
Sergeant: This five-year battle ends now.
Spriggan Leader: We were gathered here today.
Grim Reaper Leader: This must be fate.
Headquarters: There's no backup. We'll rely on the Storm Team.
Sergeant: Approaching the Ring.
Maj's Subordinate: Multiple Drones around the Ring.

Maj's Subordinate: The Ring seems to have activated.
Headquarters: So that thing's a time machine.
Soldier: Drones are coming out of the Ring!

Soldier: Enemy ships appearing from the Ring!
Major: We believe that the ship came from the future.
Headquarters: A ship that travels across time--a time machine.
Professor: A ship from 100,000 years in the future. It requires the Ring act as a waypoint in order to avoid a disaster that would span the infinite stretches of time.
Major: In order to maintain their forces, they have to be able to travel to exact points in time.
Headquarters: Traveling a hundred thousand years is sure to lead to errors in calculation. That's why they need the Ring.

(Battle begins)

Sergeant: Shit! It's a massive army!
Grim Reaper Leader: It's the same as always, captain! We get ahead, then fall behind again!
Sergeant: Over there, too! They say we have a guardian angel! A reaper of the battlefield.
Spriggan Leader: It's the Storm Team! Back together again!

Sergeant: Eliminate the Drones.

(Destroy the Large Spaceship)
Headquarters: The weak spot is directly beneath it. Get closer.

Sergeant: I still can't see the Ring's weak point. I'm going below it.

(Approach the Ring device)
Sergeant: I can see the weak point!
Spriggan Leader: So that's the Ring's weak spot.
Headquarters: Destroy that part that's glowing red.
Professor: The red part is probably a control unit. If it breaks they'll lose control of the time machine and it will self-destruct.

Headquarters: So that red part's the time machine's control unit. Destroy it.

(Damage to the Ring device)
Maj's Subordinate: Made impact with the control unit.

(Damage to the Ring device)
Maj's Subordinate: Control unit at half damage.
Professor: We won't go back in time now. The accident was just a fluke. It won't happen again.
Professor: There's no knowing what happens from here on.

(Destroy the Ring device)
Maj's Subordinate: Ring successfully destroyed. You did it.
Headquarters: You destroyed the Ring. Humanity wins.
Soldier: The Ring has started tilting!
Soldier: It's losing balance! It's gonna crash!
Headquarters: It's crashing. Storm Team, get outta there.
Soldier: The Ring is spinning.
Major: The Ring is rotating. It seems to be rolling top over bottom.
Professor: This is all news to me.
Professor: So if it weren't for that accident, we never could've taken down the Ring...
Maj's Subordinate: There's a red thing on the bottom part of the Ring. It's just like the control unit we destroyed.
Headquarters: So the Ring has two control units.
Headquarters: Move forward with the plan. Our target is the second control unit. Attack the glowing red part.
Maj's Subordinate: Calculating position based on diameter and angle. 500 meters to the new weak spot.

(The 2nd wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: Cannon has been deployed from the Ring.
Headquarters: Our intel was correct. But we didn't foresee the timing...

Soldier: Evolved enemy ship detected.
Soldier: The enemy is activating their teleportation devices!
Soldier: Androids are coming down from the Ring.
Soldier: Grenadiers!
Headquarters: Android Grenadiers incoming!
Major: They probably want to eliminate ground units to protect the Ring.
Headquarters: So their strategy is to go straight to the explosives...

Headquarters: They're sending in one weapon after another. All to defend the Ring, I imagine.

Major: That cannon continues to function even after being partially destroyed. It must be completely obliterated to be stopped.
Headquarters: So you're saying we have to take the whole thing out?
Professor: Once partially destroyed, it will stop attacking to reconfigure. That's its only weakness.

Professor: This wasn't expected. We can't handle much more...
Maj's Subordinate: We still got a soldier yet fighting.
Headquarters: Successfully destroyed the control unit. Taking out the second one should be doable, too.
Professor: Things aren't looking very good, though...
Maj's Subordinate: We've got an expert at this strategy.
Professor: Yes. I was thinking the same thing.

(The Large Spaceships appear)
Soldier: An object is coming in fast! Appears to be an evolved enemy ship!
Headquarters: Damnit!
Major: The situation is looking bad. We might need to prepare for the worst.
Headquarters: I never imagined it'd turn out like this.
Maj's Subordinate: Made it in time!
Maj's Subordinate: Now within range for submarine carrier support.
Epimetheus Captain: Epimetheus, coming to surface.
Epimetheus Crew: Enemy ship within firing range.
Epimetheus Captain: Epimetheus, deploying weapons.
Epimetheus Crew: Preparing to fire. Taking aim.
Epimetheus Captain: Let's go!
Pandora Crew: Pandora, taking aim.
Siren Crew: Siren, taking aim.
Epimetheus Captain: Submarine carriers, launch triple strike.
Epimetheus Crew: Epimetheus now firing.
Pandora Crew: Pandora now firing.
Siren Crew: Siren now firing.

Epimetheus Captain: Try getting hit by three submarine carriers at once.

Maj's Subordinate: Direct hit.
Maj's Subordinate: Target successfully destroyed.
Headquarters: Okay, this battle is ours!

Soldier: The Ring's holding still in midair!

(Approach the Ring device)
Spriggan Leader: Where's the Ring's weak spot?!

(Damage to the Ring device)
Maj's Subordinate: Second control unit has been hit.

(Damage to the Ring device)
Maj's Subordinate: Second control unit is half destroyed.

(Destroy the Ring device)
Maj's Subordinate: Second control unit successfully eliminated.
Headquarters: We did it. The Ring's done for.
Professor: Checkmate. Finally.
Soldier: It's tilting!
Soldier: The Ring has lost balance! It's crashing!
Headquarters: Evacuate! Fast!
Soldier: The Ring's crashing! We won!

Major: The time machine still seems to be functioning.
Professor: The Ring somehow didn't crash. It's struggling to maintain balance.
Headquarters: So it can still fly?
Maj's Subordinate: The Ring has stopped at the horizon.

(The 3rd wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: Multiple cannons have appeared.
Headquarters: I didn't know it could deploy so many cannons at once.
Major: Attack the cannons.
Headquarters: This is more than we can deal with. This thing's got incredible defenses.

Major: Look at their weapons... We'd better be extremely careful.

Maj's Subordinate: Please aim for its green glowing point.

(The Spinel opens)
Maj's Subordinate: Look. It's deploying the Spinel.
Headquarters: The Spinel?
Major: That's what we call the object floating in the middle of the Ring.
Major: The outer wall of the Spinel is open. It's the first time this has ever been observed.
Professor: Considering its central location, it must be an important device. And since it's currently activated...
Professor: That means the time machine is in an unstable condition. That device is operating at full power and thereby keeping the time machine functional. That's the most sensible explanation.
Major: If that's true, the Spinel is the Ring's weak point.
Headquarters: So if we destroy the Spinel, the Ring will fall. Is that what you mean?
Headquarters: Storm Team, aim for the floating object at the center of the Ring. That's its weak point.
Maj's Subordinate: Try to shoot inside when the Spinel is deployed.

Headquarters: When the Spinel opens, attack the inside.

(Damage to the Spinel)
Maj's Subordinate: Spinel has been hit.

(The 4th wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: Androids appearing from Ring. High Mobility Androids.
Headquarters: Their defenses are solid.
Headquarters: The Ring's not supposed to be a battleship. Right?
Major: We shouldn't underestimate what the Ring can do.
Professor: They've been keeping an arsenal of weapons in the future to protect their precious Ring.
Professor: But these are emergency measures. This isn't how the time machine is supposed to be used. They're desperate.

(Damage to the Spinel)
Maj's Subordinate: Spinel seems to be slightly damaged.

(The 5th wave of enemies appears)

(The 6th wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: A new cannon! Shaped differently than before!
Soldier: An evolved cannon!
Maj's Subordinate: It has started shelling us.
Major: The basic shape is the same. We can assume that it will also continue to function once partially destroyed.
Maj's Subordinate: But then it will need time to reconfigure itself.

Headquarters: The shelling is too severe. We need backup...
Maj's Subordinate: And still, one soldier is out their fighting. Even now.
Headquarters: But it's just a matter of time...

Maj's Subordinate: Helicopters are headed to this area.
Headquarters: What?
Maj's Subordinate: They're a special unit of commandos.

Soldier: Commandos here. Providing backup.
Soldier: We flew 400 kilometers. Just to meet the hero.
Soldier: We heard this operation was one for the history books.
Soldier: By the order of our commander-in-chief. Commando Team, joining forces.

Soldier: Commando 1, descending.
Soldier: Commando 2, descending.
Soldier: Commando 3, descending.

(The 2nd wave of allies appears)
Soldier: Initiating combat! Here we go!
Soldier: Form a shield around the hero!
Soldier: Protect the hero!
Soldier: Humanity is indebted to that soldier! Don't let any enemies get near!

(The 3rd wave of allies appears)
Lieutenant: Who made this stupid plan? Are they trying to get themselves killed?
Headquarters: Welcome, lieutenant. Hope you'll help us out.
Lieutenant: Divert their attention! That's all we need to do!

(Join the Lieutenant's Team)
Lieutenant: Shit! This is the last time I join a fight like this.

(Damage to the Spinel)
Maj's Subordinate: Spinel moderately damaged.

(Damage to the Spinel)
Professor: The time machine is reaching its limit. The Ring will break soon.

(Damage to the Spinel)
Maj's Subordinate: The time machine's emitting a strange light. What's going on...?
Professor: {The time machine's beginning to lose control.

(The 7th wave of enemies appears)
Soldier: Enemies appearing from the Ring.
Professor: The future Primers are falling into chaos. They're sending any troops they can get their hands on.
Headquarters: Storm Team, the enemy is heading down.

(Damage to the Spinel)
Maj's Subordinate: Spinel majorly damaged.
Professor: Finally, the Ring will crash at last.

(Destroy the Spinel)
Maj's Subordinate: We successfully destroyed the Spinel!
Headquarters: We really did it!
Soldier: Something's wrong with the Ring! It's gonna crash!
Maj's Subordinate: The Ring is coming down.
Headquarters: Their plan is over. Humanity has won.
Headquarters: Well done. Storm Team, thank you for your hard-fought win. Really and truly...
Maj's Subordinate: I never thought this day would really come... But here it is, it really is...

Major: Wait a minute. There's something in the sky...
Headquarters: What's that?
Maj's Subordinate: A hole...in the sky...
Professor: A wormhole.
Headquarters: What IS that?!

147 The Scales of Time

Mission Text

A colossal ship has appeared! It showed up in the sky out of nowhere.

This thing is as massive as the Ring, but it moves at a terrifying speed.

The enemy should be experiencing errors with their time travel now that the Ring has been destroyed...but if that thing has managed to appear here at this very moment, it must have capabilities equivalent to the Ring, or possibly even greater. That is all we can possibly conclude. In other words...that thing is their second time traveling mothership.

Mission Start

Headquarters: That thing is officially our enemy. All units, initiate attack.
Soldier: It must be from the future, too.
Soldier: As soon as we destroy the Ring a new threat shows up!
Major: We think that's the Primers' ship for time travel.
Headquarters: They had this AND the Ring...?

Soldier: They're coming in for the attack!
Soldier: Retreat!
Major: There's a weapon on the bow of the ship. Teams in front of the ship's bow should either retreat or hide.
Soldier: I can't shoot far enough!
Major: It's over one kilometer--a giant ship beyond anything seen so far. A very long-range weapon would be necessary to shoot it from the ground.
Maj's Subordinate: It moves much faster than its appearance would suggest. It might be hard to land attacks from the ground.
Soldier: It's too far for my attacks to reach!
Soldier: It's too far! I can't shoot it!

Maj's Subordinate: There's something like a cannon on the side of the ship's bow.
Headquarters: Attack the cannon. Aim for the side of the ship's bow.
Headquarters: The cannons' are on the side of the bow. Destroy them.

Professor: It is most certainly their time travel ship.
Headquarters: So they had two Motherships.
Professor: Not exactly. They only had the Ring, up to a certain point in time.
Headquarters: Why do you say that?
Professor: This is from the future after they made the Ring. They sent this from ten--a hundred--who knows how many years later.
Headquarters: What?!
Professor: The Primers who sent the Ring must have shared their failure. That's why they made a new ship for time travel afterwards, whether ten or a hundred years later.
Headquarters: So it's from the post-Ring future...?
Professor: It must be made with even more advanced technology than the Ring. Truly fearsome.
Headquarters: Hold on. So if we destroy this, won't they just send something else from even further in the future?
Professor: Yes. In another ten or hundred years, the Primers will make a new weapon and send it, too. They won't stop until they win.
Headquarters: What the hell...
Professor: We're not just fighting the Primers from a certain era. We're fighting all Primers that ever existed.
Headquarters: All Primers from every period in time....
Headquarters: There's no way we can win. They'll try again no matter how many times they lose. The war will continue for an eternity until the Primers win. What's humanity supposed to do? Victory is technically impossible.

Maj's Subordinate: The cannon on the bow seems to be the primary one.
Headquarters: It's like the head of a dragon.
Major: It may look like the mouth of a dragon, but it's probably armor to protect the opening for firing the cannon. There should be an area with weak protection around the firing device.
Headquarters: In other words, the mouth is the weak point?
Headquarters: The ship's head is the weak point. Aim for inside of the mouth.

(Damage to the main cannon)
Maj's Subordinate: Ship's head has been hit.

(Damage to the main cannon)
Maj's Subordinate: There's a Teleportation Device on the side of the ship.
Maj's Subordinate: Drones appearing from enemy ship.

(Damage to the main cannon)
Maj's Subordinate: Enemy ship slightly damaged.

(Damage to the main cannon)
Maj's Subordinate: Enemy ship moderately damaged.

(Destroy the main cannon)
Major: Enemy ship majorly damaged.
Headquarters: We really did it!
Maj's Subordinate: Amazing! We really won!

(The Primer transforms to the second form)
Soldier: Their ship's changing!
Headquarters: Huh? What happened?
Major: No way...
Major: What the hell is that?!
Headquarters: It's like an Alien...
Maj's Subordinate: Don't tell me it's their...god?
Headquarters: What?!
Maj's Subordinate: A god coming down from a golden ship... I've heard a legend like that.
Maj's Subordinate: That is a god.
Headquarters: Don't be stupid.
Major: There was wreckage from an Alien spacecraft discovered in the mountains of India. From thousands of years ago.
Headquarters: That's why the EDF was created.
Major: The Primers have been coming to Earth for a very, very long time. Humanity believed them to be gods, and created legends about them.
Major: We knew the Primer civilization had lasted for thousands of years... But now it hits home that they really traveled across time to get here.
Maj's Subordinate: In other words, the gods are still alive today.
Major: For the Primer species it's an important entity, irreplaceable.
Headquarters: Whatever this entity is, we have to fight it. If we want to survive.
Maj's Subordinate: It plays with light and dances in the sky. Just like the legends say.

(The 2nd wave of enemies appears)

Major: Launch Operation Omega.
Maj's Subordinate: You can't be serious!
Maj's Subordinate: Are you really prepared to do this? Really?
Maj's Subordinate: Please stop! Anything but that!
Maj's Subordinate: So many lives will be lost. Can you allow that to happen?
Headquarters: What do you intend to do?
Major: Our one-and-only last resort.
Major: A rocket loaded with hazardous chemical substances was sent to Mars. We will detonate it.
Headquarters: To Mars?! Why would you do that?
Major: To destroy our future foes. That's his proposed plan.
Maj's Subordinate: But if you do that...
Major: The rocket contains a mass amount of toxic pollutants. Once they spread and seep into the soil over the years, it will affect the course of evolution. Poison that cannot be purified... It should have a major impact on life there. Life will most likely be unable to evolve. Or, even if it does, it will be different than what we've seen.
Maj's Subordinate: In other words...it'll be like the Primers never existed.
Maj's Subordinate: You'll wipe out not just combatants, but the entire species and civilians! Do we have the right to do such a thing?
Professor: We sure do!
Professor: After what they did to my wife.
Maj's Subordinate: Your family is still alive!
Professor: They are now. If we hesitate, they'll be killed again.
Professor: The war is going in humanity's favor. Everyone thinks so. But it's not. My wife was killed. Over and over again. Over and over and over. Millions if not billions of people have been killed. We have to make them pay.
Major: The rocket has already reached Mars. Now we initiate the destruction sequence.
Professor: This is why they want to destroy humanity. Once you know the future, it becomes possible to change it. The Primers never should've let us find out they exist. A fatal error.
Professor: In the flow of time, there are always infinite future possibilities. A small change in the past can change the future dramatically. There is no set outcome. The Primers essentially dug a hole beneath their own feet. They've been playing with the possibility of erasing their own existence. After thoroughly enjoying their little travels through time, they finally realized it. And then they grew afraid, because things had gotten to a point where they couldn't be pieced back together.
Headquarters: So that's why they want to eradicate humanity...

(The 3rd wave of enemies appears)

(Damage to the Primer)
Major: Ignition in 3, 2, 1...
Major: Kaboom.
Major: Pollutants are spreading.
Professor: The future has changed. The Primer civilization no longer exists.
Maj's Subordinate: But our enemies... They're still here.
Professor: It's very strange. Primers are erased from history. They should be extinct.

(The Primer transforms to the third form)
Major: What the--?!
Maj's Subordinate: This is highly abnormal!
Headquarters: What just happened?!
Professor: Far from extinct, they've grown even stronger...

(The 4th wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: More aliens!
Professor: I see... So this thing has become the embodiment of all Primers.
Headquarters: What?
Professor: A time paradox.
Professor: Launching an attack on Mars created a definitive contradiction in the timeline.
Major: If Primers don't exist, the war wouldn't have happened and humanity wouldn't have nuked Mars. Then the Primers would've ended up being born on Mars and attacking humanity. A paradox.
Professor: This distortion must be corrected. In order to return to normal, time must choose a side: humanity, or the Primers.
Headquarters: Why do you say that?
Professor: One remains, and one is gone. Thus removing the contradiction.
Headquarters: You're saying time itself is gonna erase either them or us?
Professor: Exactly. The scales will tilt in favor of one or the other.
Professor: It is the one selected by time. The very embodiment of the Primers. Who survives, and who goes extinct? Now is the time to decide.
Maj's Subordinate: That's the representative of the Primers, then...
Professor: If we lose, humanity disappears.

(The 5th wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: Androids appearing from enemy ship.
Soldier: Giant Android detected!
Professor: The enemies here were cut out of the flow of time, ghosts with no home to return to. Get rid of them. Then everything will be finished.

(The 6th wave of enemies appears)
Maj's Subordinate: Enemy forces are being teleported.
Headquarters: Kraken are coming.
Professor: They're like ghosts who've been removed from the flow of time. If they continue to exist, a time paradox will occur. So go exorcise them.

Maj's Subordinate: Storm Team, numerous casualties.
Headquarters: They can't fight much more without backup...
Sergeant: Useless? Is there a problem I don't know about?
Grim Reaper Leader: No problem here.
Spriggan Leader: First-aid complete. Heading back in.
Sergeant: We've got backup. Don't worry.

Headquarters: You said this is the Primer selected by time, right?
Professor: Exactly.
Professor: Ever since the Primers interfered with human history, the time paradox has been intensifying.
Professor: At that point, you were chosen. As the person who would take on the burden of representing humanity.
Professor: You are the one.
Maj's Subordinate: The chosen one. The representative of humanity across time.

(Destroy the Primer)
Maj's Subordinate: Hey, we did it!
Major: The enemy ship is crashing.
Headquarters: We did it.

Headquarters: It's finally over...
Professor: The contradiction has been removed. History has been corrected, and things will stabilize.
Professor: Time chose humanity.
Professor: The future has been settled. The Primers are no more. How will humanity walk forth? Now that we know the future, it's up to us to decide.
Professor: You changed everything. I give you my deepest gratitude.
Headquarters: Me, too. Thank you.
Major: Same for me. I really appreciate it.

(If in the EASY difficulty level)
Maj's Subordinate: I appreciate it, too, I really do. Thank you!

(If in the NORMAL difficulty level)
Maj's Subordinate: Thank you so, so much! I will always remember what you did. Forever.

(If in the HARD difficulty level)
Maj's Subordinate: Thank you so, so much! You saved me. You saved my life.

(If in the HARDEST difficulty level)
Maj's Subordinate: Thank you so, so much! What would we do without you? I...I need you. I need you in my future, too.

(If in the INFERNO difficulty level)
Maj's Subordinate: Thank you so, so much! I love you.

Monologue and Epilogue

At last, the battle is over.

The planet is awash in mourning.
Humanity has lost 30% of its total population.

But we also gained something.
The Primers brought their science and technology.
With their advanced knowledge,
the human race is sure to make leaps and bounds.

The Primers are gone.
And no more will come from Mars.

Knowing the future, humanity is ready to take the next step.

I saw it.

Our world dying.
People dying.

Over and over again.

And yet...
I still said it.

"There is hope."

There is hope.

Chaos will come to an end.

Evil will not spread,
and violence will not prevail.

New justice shall be hailed,
and order shall be returned to people.

None of that was wrong.
That's exactly what happened.

We knew this would happen all along.
Why?

Because you are here.

Protector of people,
defender of peace,
and champion of this planet.

You are...
