Alleged South Korean Rape Cult Leader Arrested in China

Wednesday, May 16, 2007
SEOUL, South Korea — A South Korean cult leader, who allegedly raped female followers claiming he was a reincarnated Jesus Christ, has been arrested in China after more than six years on the run, Seoul's Justice Ministry said Wednesday.

Chinese police arrested 62-year-old Jung Myung-seok May 1 in Beijing, and South Korea wants him to be sent to Seoul to face charges of rape and sexual assault, said Jun Sung-won, a prosecutor at the ministry.

He was the leader of the cult Jesus Morning Star or JMS. The acronym also represents the initials of his name.

The prosecutor declined to elaborate on the charges, and said it was unclear when Jung could be extradited because Chinese authorities are investigating him over unspecified separate charges.

Local media have reported that Jung raped followers and forced them to have group sex with him, saying God allowed him all women in the world and warning they would find themselves "in great trouble" if they rejected his demands.

His case became known after Korean television network SBS first carried a report on his alleged wrongdoing in 1999. At that time, about 6,000 followers staged a protest in front of the TV station over the report.

A senior member of the South Korean cult group "'Setsuri,"

or also known as JMS which has drawn several allegations of rape,
is suspected of illegally obtaining a resident visa with the help of two Japanese, sources familiar with the matter told Kyodo News on Aug, 8, 2006

The 44-year-old South Korean woman lives in Chiba City, the sources said,
adding the Chiba prefectural police are considering questioning her on suspicion of violating the immigration law.

The sources said two Japanese men are believed to have helped the woman illegally obtain her visa.
The woman is also suspected of putting false information in her alien registration certificate.

The Nation's Capital Gets A New Daily Newspaper

By Elisabeth Bumiller Special to The Washington Post Monday, May 17, 1982

Yesterday was the first day of deadline at The Washington Times,
the newspaper owned by the Rev. Sun Myung Moon's controversial Unification Church.

The Washington Times is not just any newspaper.
Commonly referred to as "the Moonie paper"
since its plans were announced, it is supported by the religious movement that Moon founded in Korea 28 years ago.
Preaching "The Divine Principle," Moon sees himself as the new Messiah and Korea as God's chosen country.

Rev. Sun Myung Moon, “messiah/fishmonger”?

Rev. Sun Myung Moon’s followers within the Unification Church consider him their ”savior” and “messiah” and according to a statement run within his Washington Times newspaper 36 dead US presidents speaking from “spirit world” have agreed and proclaimed him “Lord of the Second Advent, the Messiah, the Savior and the True Parent.”

Moon even had himself crowned once within the US Senate building, in a ceremony attended by politicians and assorted sychophants.

However, the one self-proclaimed and gradiose title the seeming megalomaniac Moon has spoken that just might prove to be true, was when he called himself “king of the ocean.”

Given to ranting and rambling on and on about his supposed greatness the man many consider a “cult leader” outlined a plan in a 1980 speech about how he would eventually rule the world’s fishing industry.

“I have the entire system worked out, starting with boat building. After we build the boats, we catch the fish and process them for the market, and then have a distribution network. This is not just on the drawing board; I have already done it.”

And despite some pretty pitiful business failures, such as the Washington Times that has cost Moon millions annually to subsidize, his fishing investments have actually paid off.

Moon is now “dominating one of America’s trendiest indulgences: sushi,” according to the Chicago Tribune as reported by Monica Eng, Delroy Alexander and David Jackson.

The Moon-controlled enterprise called “True World Group” has apparently largely fulfilled the would-be “messiah’s” 1980s prophecy. The business ”builds fleets of boats, runs dozens of distribution centers and, each day, supplies most of the nation’s estimated 9,000 sushi restaurants” reports the Chicago Tribune.

True World Foods reported revenue for 2005 was $250 million. Its fleet of 230 refrigerated trucks delivers raw fish to 7,000 sushi and fine-dining restaurants across America and Moon’s Alaska plant processes more than 20 million pounds of salmon, cod and pollock annually.

Rev. Moon’s fish businesses operate under a nonprofit umbrella called ”Unification Church International Inc.” (UCI)

In 1978 a congressional investigation concluded that UCI had no ”independent functions other than serving as a financial clearinghouse for various Moon organization subsidiaries and projects.”

Like Moon who was convicted criminally for tax fraud in the 1980s and sentenced to 13 months at Danbury, the one-time prison inmate’s fish business has gotten into its share of trouble too.

True World Foods in Alaska pled guilty to a federal felony, was fined $150,000 and put on probation in 2001. And more recently Moon’s company has had repeated problems with the FDA, which cited it for ”gross unsanitary conditions” just last year.

The 86-year-old Moon’s journey is nearing its end and it won’t be long until he is in “spirit world.” He has failed to fulfill his goal to become a globally recognized ”messiah” and perhaps the head harvester of human souls.

But maybe the purported “cult leader” has finally succeeded at something somewhat more conventional, as a sole catcher and sushi provider.

Does that make Moon a ”messiah/fishmonger”?

Korean pastor denies sex offense allegations

THE Korean Presbyterian pastor involved in the controversial National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Bacolod raid of the Pamplona Cottages last February 4 has denied allegations of sexual misconducts while he was assigned in Bacolod City.

In the book, Gang of Five,

author Nina Easton wrote that the Abramoff-Norquist leadership transformed the College Republicans into a
“right-wing version of a communist cell ? complete with purges of in-house dissenters and covert missions to destroy the enemy left.”
Under Abramoff and Norquist, the College Republicans also allegedly began tapping into Rev. Moon’s mysterious well of nearly unlimited cash.
In 1983, Rep. Jim Leach of Iowa, then chairman of the GOP’s moderate Ripon Society, released a study saying the College Republican National Committee “solicited and received” money from Moon’s Unification Church in 1981.
Leach said the Korean-based Unification Church has “infiltrated the New Right and the party it wants to control, the Republican Party, and infiltrated the media as well.”
Before Leach could finish the press conference, Norquist disrupted the meeting with accusations that Leach was lying.
For its part, Moon’s Washington Times dismissed Leach’s charges as “flummeries” and mocked the Ripon Society as a “discredited and insignificant left-wing offshoot of the Republican Party.”
To this day, largely through lavish spending on right-wing causes, Moon has made his cult-like movement a political powerhouse within conservative circles.
However, evidence has continued to mount that Moon’s operation is a complex web of secretive businesses and groups that launder millions of dollars from suspicious sources in Asia and South America into the U.S. political system.
Moon has subsidized not only media outlets, such as the pro-Republican Washington Times, but conservative infrastructure, including direct-mail operations, think tanks and political conferences.
Moon’s organization also has funneled money directly into the pockets of former President Bush and other leading politicians. [For details, see Secrecy & Privilege .]

the Rev. Sun Myung Moon has cemented ties with the Bush administration

According to Moon, in order to restore blood purity, very specific practices are prescribed.
Sex before marriage is out of the question, and when sexual consummation does happen,
it must adhere to very specific instructions. First, a photograph of Moon must be nearby,
so that everything occurs under the reverend's watchful eye.
After two nights of woman-on-top sex, the couple reverse positions, whereupon the man,
according to Moon, restores dominion over Eve, via the proper missionary position.
Then, according to the instructions attributed to the U.C.'s American Blessed Family Department,
"after the act of love, both spouses should wipe their sexual areas with the Holy Handkerchief"
referring to the church-supplied washcloth -- which must "be kept individually
labeled and should never be laundered or mixed up."
