<> 1. Hōnen (法然, May 13, 1133 – February 29, 1212) is the religious reformer and founder of the first independent branch of Japanese Pure Land Buddhism called Jōdo shū (浄土宗, "The Pure Land School"). From The Japan Times (Oct.19th 2012) Deepest Condolences It is our regret to inform with deepest sorrow that His Majesty NORODOM SHIANOUK, King Father of the Kingdom of Cambodia, Supreme Honorary President of Nenbutsushu Buddhist Sect of Japan and Buddhist Summit, passed away in the early morning on October 15, 2012. His Majesty overcome various difficulties and attained great achievements in his whole life in bringing peace, serenity, and prosperity to all the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia, based on the teachings of Buddhism. His Majesty was the Symbol of the Nation, titled as "Father of Impendence, Unity, and National Reconciliation" and truly deserved the honorary title, "Supreme Royal Father od World Buddhism."
