10 Steps to solving a problem
- What is the problem?
- Why should I spend time fixing THIS problem versus working something else?
- Describe the process that's failing that's causing the problem
- How bad is the failing process? Measure it.
- Use your best judgmetn and come up with your top best guesses on exactly what's causing the process to fail.
- Use facts and data to prove which of your best guesses are the real drivers of the failure.
- Develop a set of solutions targeted to fix the proven drivers of the failure.
- Implement the targeted solutions.
- Continue to chart the process's preformance and make sure there's a a feedback process to insure the process is really working better and stays that way.
- Validate with the process's customer that the process is actually working better from their view.
