The atrocities of war are only bettered by those of its aftermath, when those
unfortunate to have survived are not aware of the ruin and devastation to
come.</span></p>
<p><span>Having barely repulsed the armies of the South, the Northern Kingdoms
fell into an unwarranted state of self-awe – spurning the alliances of
yesterday and regaining their forlorn propensity to bicker amongst themselves;
they readily level the tips of their swords at each others’ throats in wanton
accusations of treason, and all the while the enemy regroups and
rejuvenates.</span></p>
<p><span>And where do you enter this picture, you ask? According to official
reports, you’re dead – killed by the very people you sought to protect during
one of the non-humans pogroms. As you can see, my friend, it does not always
pay to protect the oppressed – in particular if your only motivation for doing
so is based on moral conscience.</span></p>
<p><span>It will take more than a nation-wide revolt to dispatch you to the
afterlife. But you may be wandering how it is that you suddenly reappeared?
This is something you will discover in due course. For the time being, there
are more pressing matters in hand – an organized band of aggressors has somehow
found the Witchers’ mountain stronghold of Kaer Morhen and begun its assault in
an attempt to appropriate the dangerous knowledge of Witcher elixirs. Your
brethren will call upon you to defend your clandestine heritage, for the mass
production of such potions would mean nothing less than doom for the common
people who take them. So, you will begin an investigation that will lead you to
discover both yourself and information that will also prove deadly.</span></p>
<p><span>I wonder, how soon will you begin to regret returning from the
dead?</span></p>
