＊ 「～が苦手です」はbe poor at～。majorは、動詞だと「専攻する」。

＊ 「知らせ」はnewsとして処理。これも1.のglassesと同じく常に複数形で使われる。
5. The country paid a high price for independece.
＊ price「商品の値段、客が支払う金額」cost「物を作るときにかかる費用、店主が支払う費用」違いに注意。
6. Recently, I got into a habit of having a cup of coffee as soon as I get
up.
＊ 個人の習慣はhabit、社会的な慣習はcustom
7. Yesterday, I covered my ears with hands instinctively on my way from
the school because I was surprised to hear the thunder suddenly
8. We can't afford to buy a lot of electrical appliances because we lack
fund.
＊ 「資金不足で」はdue to lack of fundでも可。
9. The baggage of passengers is checked strictly before they get on their
airplane.
10. The President criticized the policy of his opponent sharply on
TV.
