Konata:
Kagami's staying home 'cause she's got a cold,
huh?
Tsukasa:
Uh-huh, but at least she only got a cold not the flu,
you know.
Konata:
Thanks for I'm stupid, so I don't have to worry about
catching the flu and stuff.
Tsukasa:
I heard that works for the cold,
but I didn't know it was the same for the flu.
Konata:
I thought the flu was a deluxe version of a cold.
You're saying that colds and the flu are two different things?
Tsukasa:
I... I guess I think they're different things...
From me if they aren't, I don't know anymore and kinda confused
now.
Miyuki:
Uh, the difference between influenza and a
cold?
Konata:
Uh-huh.
Miyuki:
Let me see now...
Influenza is a viral illness with many symptoms such as fever and muscle
aches.
If it's not treated, there's a risk with more serious complications.
On the other hand, the symptoms of a cold are sore throats and running noses,
and the fever doesn't run that high.
Those're just a few of the symptoms that're different from the
flus.
Konata:
Hmm...
Miyuki:
So to answer your question, "yes, they are different
illnesses."
Konata:
Oh, really...
Miyuki:
Oh, but then again, colds and flus do share many common
traits, I guess one could say the flu is a sort of scaled-up version of a cold
after all.
Konata:
I knew it!
Tsukasa:
Why are you looking so serious, huh,
Kona-chan?
Konata:
Uh, it's nothing.
Just something that's bugging me since the conversation this
morning.
Tsukasa:
Huh?
The one about colds and flus?
Konata:
You didn't disagree with me when I said I was stupid,
did you, Tsukasa?
Tsukasa:
Wait, it's not like that!
I didn't mean!
