検証
『英語の語源』（渡部昇一、講談社新書）に掲載例があるとの情報を入手したが、そのような記載はなかった。
ネット上には出典を記載しているものがないが、どういうことだろうか。
国語辞書、外来語辞書には「欧米の習慣である」という程度の記述しかなく、英語百科事典であるBritannicaにはそもそもladdies firstの記載がなかった。
本論とはずれるが、この本には、ladyの語源について次のようにある
男の主人loadが、「パンを保持する者」だとすれば、それと対をなすlady（女主人、貴婦人）の原義はなんであろうか。
ここでもパンが関係してくるのである。このlady（女主人）という単語は古英語ではhlafdieとかhlaefdigeであった。この単語の前半はloadの古形hlafweardと同じく、「パン」を意味するhlafである。後半の-dieあるいは-digeは「（パンを作る粉を）こねる」という意味になる。日本では主婦の権限の象徴として「しゃもじ」が用いられる。これもご飯をよそうということ、つまり食事のしたくの意味である。主婦の権力を示すものが、東西とも食事に関しているのはおもしろい。
英語でladyは身分の高い女性を指す言葉であり、盾役に使っていたというのはにわかに信じがたいのである。
アメリカにおいては、レディーファースト(ladies first)の起源については諸説あるようだ。
どの説にも証拠はなく、すべてが都市伝説である可能性がある。
説の名前はここで勝手につけている。
騎士道説
It has many meanings, but when we speak of chivalry we are usually talking about respect and courtesy toward women. The concept has its origin in the Middle Ages, when knights were trained and expected to defend the honor of all ladies. This evolved to gentlemen throwing their coat over a patch of mud to allow a lady to pass over it safely, and eventually to holding the door at the entrance of a building and letting ladies go first, among other niceties.
Speculation abounds about the origin of this tradition. Some say it began during Victorian times. Others believe it stemmed from men being concerned about assassination attempts and walking behind women when entering or exiting buildings. We don't know if they were using the women as shields, or if they were being chivalrous in fending off rear attacks.
沈没船説
The practice arose from the chivalrous actions of soldiers during sinking of HMS Birkenhead in 1852, though the phrase itself was not coined until 1860. Although never part of international maritime law, the phrase was popularized in its usage on the RMS Titanic, where, as a consequence of this practice, 74% of women on board were saved, 52% of children - but only 20% of men.
旧約聖書説
According to Judaism and the Torah, the 'ladies first' rule is a very old tradition. The story goes that when Moses was instructed to inform the people of Israel about the Torah, he was told to "speak to the house of Jacob, and tell the sons of Israel."
Since the house of Jacob appears first in the instructions, and it refers to women, the theory follows that Moses had to speak first with the ladies. Probably this is the origin of the phrase 'ladies first'.

a boy and a girl were in love but they had a lot of problems because of this, so they decided to suicide the boy through himself from a mountain or something then the girl decided not to through herself and she didn't suicide as they promised each other
