Instructions

Xubuntu Installation: Alternate CD

Use the alternate CD to install xubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koara) on encrypted partitions.

Installation Language: English

Use English to install xubuntu to avoid unusual setup. We can setup language later.

Encrypted Partition:

In order to encrypt partition, just need to select "Encrypted partitions on LVM". Everything is automatically setup with tiny swap space.

OS Setup

Swap Caps_Lock and Control_L (man xmodmap)

• Applications=>設定=>キーボード レイアウト Check "システムでフォルトを使用する"
• Applications=>設定=>セッションと起動 setxkbmap -option "ctrl:swapcaps"
• Applications=>Xfce 4 設定マネージャ=>Removable Drives and Media=>Input Devices=>Keyboards setxkbmap -option "ctrl:swapcaps"

Language pack

Install Japanese language pack. This requires re-login.

Enable auto login

In order to start up this netbook, it was required to enter pass phrase to use encripted partition. Therefore there are no points to do another authentication.
