It was founded in 1676 as a private garden of Tsunanori Maeda, 5th generation of feudal lord, and extended over generations. The garden located in the heart of Kanazawa, it has been appreciated by both citizens and tourists from all over the world as a landscape garden that shows a different flavor in each season.

According to the ancient Chinese book of gardens, excellence of the gardens can be realized from following six features, expansiveness, quietness, artifice, antiquity, stream of water and panoramas. The name of the garden means that this garden combines these six characteristic aspects.

In spring, you can enjoy walking around in the garden strewn with cherry blossom petals. In summer, bright fresh green of maple leafs are beautiful. In autumn, those leafs turn red. In winter, some of major pine threes caped be snow.
