You can see on the unit's icon whether it's hidden or not (a special marker appears on the unit icon).\nHiding units can ambush the approaching enemy (if the opposing forces get close to them) and during ambushes they get significant bonuses for their attack ratings. At least one minute hiding is required."

A unit in loose formation is relatively safe from the arrows of archers but very vulnerable in a melee. Generally speaking, loose formations are good for marching and exploring, while closed formations are suitable for melee battles.\nStronger and more useful formations are only available for experienced or elite units. The key to success is to learn which formation types are effective against which enemy formations."
