One August night in 1984, hit Hiroshima and was causing damage in the city. Suddenly a loud CRACK sounded through the air. “What happened?” people wondered. In the wind and rain they ran from their homes. A great tree was broken off four meters above the root.
This was ordinary tree. It survived an even greater disaster in 1945. When the atomic bomb burst over the city of Hiroshima, the tree was only one kilometer from the bomb, and half of its trunk was burnt black. The tree began to die, but children from Motomachi Elementary School took care of it. They wanted the tree to become a living witness to the bomb. The tree survived and become a point of interested in Hiroshima.
But now the end of this tree seems certain. How could the tree survive the damage from the typhoon? There was only one hope. Tadahiko Yamano, the tree doctor. That’s right, a tree doctor! He takes care of trees just other doctors take care of people.
