Organizers are giving South Africans 120,000 free tickets to next year's soccer World Cup in a bid to make the tournament more accessible to citizens living in poverty.
South Africa's local organizing committee said on Friday that it will provide the free tickets to ensure that poor people, including children, can attend.
The committee said the tickets will be distributed through major sponsors.
The world soccer governing body FIFA has already set discount prices for South Africans.
FIFA says this is the first time that free World Cup tickets will be given away.
Matches will be held in 10 stadiums in the country from June 11th to July 11th, 2010.

来年開催されるサッカーのワールドカップ・南アフリカ大会を、貧しい人々にも観戦してもらうために、１２万枚のチケットが無料で配布されることになりました。
これは地元南アフリカの組織委員会が金曜日に明らかにしたもので、子どもたちを含めた貧困地域の人々も試合場に入れるようにするための措置だと言うことです。
チケットは、ワールドカップの主要スポンサー企業を通じて、配布されることになっています。
ＦＩＦＡ・国際サッカー連盟は、すでに南アフリカ国内で販売されるチケットには割引価格を設定していますが、無料チケットが配布されるのは今回が初めてだということです。
ワールドカップは、２０１０年６月１１日から７月１１日まで、国内１０か所のスタジアムで行われます。
