A small town in northern Japan has grilled the longest skewered chicken and recaptured the world record, after losing it last year. 　
On Saturday, a team of 56 people in the town of Kawamata, Fukushima Prefecture set out to break the record. They successfully grilled chicken meat on a 24.24-meter-long skewer.
The annual event is designed to promote "Kawamata-shamo", a locally produced high-quality chicken.
Last year the town set a world record, but only two months later the western Japanese city of Nagato surpassed it.
A national association of grilled chicken producers certified this year's record, after the jury determined the skewer had not broken.

「世界一長い焼き鳥」作りに挑戦した北日本の小さな町が、再び「世界一」の栄冠に輝き、去年の雪辱を果たしました。
福島県川俣町（かわまたまち）の住民ら５６人が土曜日、世界記録に挑戦しました。
その結果、２４.２４メートルの一本の焼き串で鳥肉を焼くことに成功しました。
このイベントは、特産の「川俣シャモ」を全国にＰＲしようと毎年行われています。
去年、川俣町は世界一の記録を打ち立てましたが、そのわずか２ヶ月後、山口県長門市が記録を更新し、世界一の座を奪われていました。
「全国やきとり連絡協議会」の審査員が、焼き上がった焼き鳥の串が折れていないことを確認し、今年（＝世界一）の記録と認定しました。
