U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy's funeral was held on Saturday at a church in Boston, following his passing on Tuesday. U.S. President Barack Obama hailed him as the greatest legislator of modern times.
Edward Kennedy's career in the U.S. Senate spanned almost 50 years.
About 1,500 people attended his funeral in Boston on Saturday. President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton participated and mourned the senator.
In a eulogy President Obama hailed Edward Kennedy as the greatest legislator of his time.

火曜日（８月２５日）に死去したエドワード・ケネディ上院議員の葬儀が、地元ボストンの教会で営まれ、参列したオバマ大統領は、「現代の最も偉大な議員だった」と述べて、彼を称えました。
エドワード・ケネディ氏は５０年近くにわたり、アメリカの上院議員を務めてきました。
地元マサチューセッツ州のボストンでの葬儀には、土曜日（８月２９日）、およそ１,５００人が参列し、オバマ大統領やバイデン副大統領、それにブッシュ前大統領、クリントン元大統領なども参列し、ケネディ上院議員の逝去を悼みました。
オバマ大統領は弔辞で、エドワード・ケネディ氏を現代の最も偉大な議員だったとして称えました。
