With a general election coming up in Japan next month, businesses say they want the new administration to focus on government and fiscal reform to revive the economy.
The Japan Business Federation made the appeal at a discussion forum on Friday.
It said the Japanese economy is going through big structural changes because of globalization and an aging population.
It said the coming election is a chance to choose key policies that could decide Japan's future.
The group called for the next administration to devolve more power to local governments.
It also called for a clear road-map for the reform of Japan's social security system and for tax reforms including a hike in the consumption tax.
The group's chairman told reporters he wants to know what Japan's political parties are ready to do.

来月（８月）行われる総選挙を前に、経済界からは、新政権が日本経済を復活させるための行政と財政改革に取り組むよう求める声が、あがっています。
日本経団連は金曜日の討議フォーラムの内容をまとめた意見書を発表しました。意見書は、日本経済はグローバル化と人口の高齢化によって大きな構造変化を起こしており、きたる衆議院選挙は日本の将来を左右する重要な政策選択の機会だと指摘しています。
経団連は、次期政権に対して地方分権をさらに進めることや、社会保障制度の将来像を明確にすること、それに消費税の引き上げを視野に入れた税制の改革なども求めています。日本経団連の御手洗会長は報道陣に対し、日本の各政党の方針について意見を聞きたいと述べました。
