After reading so much hype about McChrystal's Original & Genuine snuff, I had to order a couple of 8.75 gram tins. I must say, the tins are really cute, and the top comes off very nicely.

I opened the tin took a whiff. The first thought that came to mind was, "this is like opening a medicine cabinet." Now, granted, this was the first mentholated snuff I tried, but the camphor just came right out and smacked me in the face just taking a whiff from a distance. I dove right in and took a double dose in each nostril. Oh my, my whole world was turned upside down in mentholated bliss. The effect lasted quite a long time, it seemed.

But something was missing. The nicotine! I realized I was swimming in menthol land, but there wasn't much nicotine kick to it. I won't say it's weak stuff, but the menthol definitely takes precidence to the nicotine, as they'd say. This apparently, is quite common with mentholated snuffs.

After trying a few other menthol snuffs, I can quickly tell you that menthol snuffs are not going to be my all-time favourites, but there is definitely a place for them in my snuff cabinet. And it would certainly make a good conversation centerpiece. To me, McChrystal's O&G is about the menthol experience. I can't detect the tobacco. I can hardly feel the nicotine. But the nice, smooth texture and the high quality menthol rush is what this stuff is about. It might not be the strongest menthol out there, it didn't burn my nose or anything, but the quality is very high, as one would expect from McChrystal's.

No matter if menthol is your favourite or not, I would say no snuff cabinet is complete without a tin or two of McChrystal's O&G.

There is a bit too much menthol in it which finally made me stop using it. It is certainly better than the Wilson's menthol snuffs.

The OG is hands down my favorite of the menthols. I go through a large tin every 2 weeks, if it was my only daily snuff it would go allot faster. It is always in my pocket. I've tried most of the other menthols out there, also like the SM 500 occasionally, but always go back to McC's. Smooth, easy to take and I love the texture.
