McCombie is a coarse, multi-textured snuff. Light yellow fragments of leaf-stem and stalk are evident, and are mixed with a darker brown ground leaf. The moisture content is middling, and the snuff can be dried and rehydrated many times without ill effect.
The flavor of this snuff is intriguing to me— a mild nuttiness with a faint hint of butterscotch. The aroma is not persistent, fading away quickly, which leads me to take pinch after pinch after pinch, ever seeking that light flavor. Fortunately, the nicotine level is in the medium range, so one can use a lot without becoming a jittery, blinking wreck. The afterblow effect is very clean, with a very faint grassiness.
This snuff is very easy to take and makes a good all-day snuff, although it does have a slight drying effect. Unlike other slightly-drying varieties of snuff, though, McCombie will not coat your mucosa with concrete. This would be a good beginner’s snuff, as it’s hard to oversniff due to its coarseness, and is mildly scented.
