For B read Bob
For M read Motoko

B: Hi Motoko. Now that life is beginning to settle down after the recent terrible events, we need to discuss what lessons we've learned from them, don't we?
M: Yes,we do. Of course we now understand better than before March 11 the need to be probably prepared for disasters, but personally I believe the biggest lesson we've learned is that nuclear power generation in Japan is no longer viable.
B: Not viable? I'm sorry, Motoko, but you're absolutely wrong. People may have panicked following the problems at Fukushima, but the net result of that will be nuclear power plants that are better and safer.
M: Bob, you're talking rubbish. Even you know that even the best and most modern nuclear power plants are never really safe.
B: Japan's new nuclear power plants will be closer to 100 percent safe than even before. Even the old ones at Fukushima were not unsafe ― after being hit by a disaster of that magnitude they stayed more or less intact. As we all know, Japan has no domestic resources so the need for nuclear power plants is greater here than anywhere else in the world.
M: All I want, Bob, is to live in a nuclear-free country where I can be sure that water is always safe to drink and vegetables are never radioactive.
B: Nuclear power plants are clean and safe. Thermal plants are dirty and polluting, you know. Which way of meeting energy needs do you prefer?
M: I would be happy if Japan didn't have any energy needs, at least on the present scale. We should set an example to the world by living happily with wind and solar power, and bicycles.
B: You really are out of touch, Motoko. You should have been born in the Jomon Period!
M: Yes, I agree ― the Jomon period with bicycles. That's my idea of paradise.
