1. My life is likely to last ten to fifteen years. Any separation from you will be painful for me. Remember that before you buy me.

2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.

3. Place your trust in me-it's crucial to mywell-being.

4. Don't be angry at me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your entertainment and your friends. I have only you.

歳を取って、心臓が弱っているんじゃないの？

9. Take care of me when I get old; you, too, willgrow old.

あなたが歳を取る様に、私も歳を取るの。
その時もちゃんと面倒見てね。

10. Go with me on difficult journeys. Never say, "I can't bear to watch it, or, "Let it happen in my absence." Everything is easier for me if you arethere. Remember, I love you.

私はいつか、あなたより早く天国へと旅立ちます。

その時に
「見ているのが辛いから」とか「私の見ていないところで･･･」
なんて、哀しいこと言わないで･･･。

●　虹の橋 -Rainbow Bridge-

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

天国のちょっと手前に、『虹の橋』と呼ばれる場所があります。

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

あなた共に過ごした動物たちが死んだ時、『虹の橋』へと行くのです。

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

そこには、草原や丘があり、仲間たちと走り回って遊べんでいます。

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine and our friends are warm and comfortable.

そこには、十分な食べ物、水、光にあふれ、
そして、たくさん仲間たちに囲まれ、
全ての動物たちが暖かく安らかな時を過ごしています。

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again,

just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
病気になった動物も、年老いた動物も元気を取り戻し、
傷付いたり、不自由な身体になった動物は、健康な身体を取り戻すのです。

まるで、過ぎ去った、あの夢のような日々のように･･･。

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they each miss someone very special, someone who was left behind.

ただ、そうやって幸せに暮らしている動物たちにも、１つだけ不満があります。
それは、大切なあの人と、離れ離れになってしまった事です。

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance.

そして、いよいよその日がやって来ました。

いつものように、動物たちは一緒に遊んでいたある日、
その中の１匹が足を止め、遠くを見つめています。

His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver.

その１匹の目は爛々と輝き、嬉しさに耐え切れず、身体は小刻みに震えだします。

Suddenly, he breaks from the group, flying over the green grass, faster and faster.

そして、今で過ごした仲間たちから離れると、走れる限りの速さで草原を飛ぶように駆け抜けていきます。

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.

そう･･･あなたを見つけたのです。

あなたたちは、とうとう出会うことができたのです。

そして、再会を喜び合い、抱きしめ合います。

もう、２度と離れることはありません。

The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into those trusting eyes, so long gone from your life, but never absent from your heart.

あなたに会えた喜びのキスが顔に降り注ぎ、あなたはあの頃のように、愛おしそうにその頭を優しくなでます。

そしてあなたは、長い間離れていたけれど、
決して忘れる事の無かった、信頼に満ちたその瞳を再び見つめます。
