*Making toys out of their patients: Otaku doctors and akkera-kangofu
>Making toys out of their patients: Otaku doctors and akkera-kangofu
>Spa! 12/4 By Anthony J. Bryant
>An otaku is a Japanese cross between a couch potato and an obses-sive nerd.
>Akkera-kangofu comes from the word akkerakan, which is used for people who are completely unmoved by criticism.
>In the case of nurses it could mean they don't give a damn or couldn't care less about their patients.
>Spa! gives examples of different types of health care professionals in big hospitals.
>On the doctors' side are obotchama doctors(very spoiled young men from well-heeled families;lots of these out there), the ones who tell the patients to shut up and do as I say, data does(for whom getting the facts down on paper is more important than the patient),etc.
Spa!
>Angels of mercilessness are represented by “till 5” nurses, the ones who would rather be with a favored doctor than tending patients, and so on.
>Also appearing:The five rules of patient communication(e.g.,the doctor and nurse aren't almighty, and if you have any complaints about the doctor or nurse, say something).(AJB)
(AJB)
