「Racist rag warns women to fear foreigners at World Cup」の編集履歴(バックアップ)一覧に戻る
Hooligans have formed the focus of much of the security steps authorities have taken for the summer's World Cup, but it seems foreign men in general are just as much to fear, if a xenophobic Shukan Jitsuwa (1/31) is to be believed. Gaijin guys, and the predilection local ladies have for them, have apparently given the weekly cause for launching an anti-foreigner tirade.
Shukan Jitsuwa claims that all Japanese women face the threat of violence from foreign fiends attending the World Cup, quoting such sources as the following 20-year-old woman.
"Foreign guys always try to pick you up right away when you're out on the town. I was at a nightclub once when this strange foreign guy I'd never met before came by and started talking to me really kindly. That put me off my guard and the next thing I knew he'd dragged me inside a toilet. It was all that I could do to get away from him. Ever since then, I haven't been able to get this image out of my mind that all foreign men are scary. They're all big guys, so there's nothing you can do to fight back if you have to. I know some girls who've been done over and had to bear it. You hear a lot about that sort of thing. It's even more frightening if you know these guys are coming to Japan to deliberately cause trouble."
And the weekly is not the only one dishing it out to non-Japanese men attending the World Cup. Shukan Jitsuwa quotes minutes from a Miyagi Prefectural Assembly meeting in June 2000.
"If frustrations inside the stadium spread, even the smallest matter could spark a massive accident. For instance, you can guess there will be fights, torching of cars and damage of properties near roads leading to stadiums.
"In addition, expect people running off without paying hotel or restaurant bills and evil foreigners arrested for sneakily selling drugs like cocaine or heroin. In the irregular atmosphere of the occasion, it's even possible we'll have the problem of unwanted babies borne by women raped by foreigners."
Such a reputation has already put the ejaculation industry on the alert, with the areas expecting English fans being most concerned.
In Sapporo, which will host the game between fierce rivals England and Argentina, the doors to the netherworld have been slammed shut already.
"With foreigners, the first thing we worry about are diseases. They can't speak the lingo and don't understand what we say to them, so don't know the rules of the game here," a sex shop operator in Sapporo's saucy Susukino district tells Shukan Jitsuwa. "And we've always got to worry whether they'll pay up. To be honest, the only way most brothels can combat the problems is to refuse them entry."
It's a similar story in Osaka, home of the closest major sex shop district to the English team's base camp on Awaji Island.
"Awaji held a flower exhibition a little while back and even then most sex shops wouldn't let foreigners in," an Osaka sex shop operator tells Shukan Jitsuwa. "It's a really delicate issue. I can see why some say it's discriminatory, but just by letting foreigners inside some brothels are opening themselves up to a whole assortment of problems."January 20, 2002
