しかし、日陰ものの同性愛者の男性にとって、この近辺が安全で安らげると感じられることが保証されていたのは、おそらく過去のことです。
週刊文春は、この地区での同性愛者の男娼の間での暴行事件が増加しつつあることを報告しています。

もう一人の男娼であるマサアキは詳しく述べます。「つまりは嫉妬さ。
俺ら同性愛者は、自分より美しかったり人気のある人間を受け入れられないんだ」
売り専の男娼は、暴行を自分達では行わず、金を払って暴走族か暴力団員に汚い仕事させるのだとマサアキは週刊文春に知らせます。
チョロイゆすりの標的である金回りのいい男娼を捜すために、金に飢えた暴走族がこの地区を うろつき始めているのだと、彼は付け加えます。

暴力事件の増加の裏には、長く続く商売の低迷があります。
この雑誌はある情報筋を引き合いに出し、売り専の顧客の数は、不況前の５分の１に落ち込んだと注記します。
にもかかわらず、更に多くの同性愛者の若者が、同性愛者に好意的なメディアから知識を得て田舎から売り専バーに仕事を見つけるためにやってくるのです。

>"In the old days,being a gay was an absolute secret you didn't want anyone to know and homosexuals observed unwritten codes for protecting their kind.

「かつては、一般の人々をここでの仕事に就かせまいという、確かな雰囲気がここにはありました」年配のゲイバー経営者は嘆きます。
「昔は、同性愛者であるということは誰にも知られたくない絶対的な秘密であり、同性愛者は自分達の種を護るために不文律を遵守していました。
今や誰もがこの地区を訪れて、楽しんでいきます。
