The Blue Hearts (1985 - 1995) was most successful and influential Japanese punk rock band. They got charismatic popurality for straightforward lyric, catchy melody and unique perfomance. 

First they wrote stinging lyrics that criticize hypocrisy of adults and society. But, they turns to write abstract and meaningless lyrics as they aged. After breaking up, the core members of the band, Kōmoto Hiroto and Mashima Masatoshi, formed another band together, and remain to be the great Rock'n Roller. But many songs they left in their early period are eternal standard for youth.

Their major debut single "LINDA LINDA", which is one of most well-known songs of them, starts from the impressive phrase.

The lyric is about a couple of lovers of a young man who is going to have gone to a big city for a job and a young woman who will be left. The man hopes the woman to watch him changing to an elegant and urbanized man, but she only wishes him to stay with himself. When the time to say good bye has come, she ask him for a cotton handkerchief to wipe her tears.

The song has been covered by several artists including Spitz and Shiina Ringo, and has been loved over generations for 30 years since it has cut.
