**概要
バイオハザードシリーズのナンバリング7作目。
「新生バイオハザード」と銘打たれており、従来のTPSからFPSへの変更、「怖さ」重視のゲームデザインなど新路線を目指した作風となった。
本作のストーリーや登場人物は前作までと基本的に繋がりが無いので、シリーズ初心者の人にとっても気軽にプレイできる。
2021年に直接的な続編として『[[バイオハザード ヴィレッジ]]』が発売された。
BGMは森本章之氏、茅根美和子氏、堀諭史氏の3名が中心に担当。なおシリーズを手掛けていた[[鈴木幸太]]氏は未参加。
前作の『6』に比べてボリュームが減った分曲数も減ったが、主題歌である「Go Tell Aunt Rhody」は好評。
「Not A Hero」や「End of Zoe」といったDLCではかなりの数の新規曲が追加されている。
DLCの追加曲は2021年7月28日に発売された「BIOHAZARD SOUND CHRONICLE III」のディスク3に収録。
