They admitted inventing its kinky features, or rather deliberately mistranslating them from the original gossip magazine. |
In fact, this is far from the general Japanese' behavior or sense of worth. |

「SEX依存症」の女性が増えている 1997.07.27
Might as well face it you're addicted to sex
Shukan Taishu 8/4 BY Takeshi Ito
“Please someone cool down my burning body.”
“I can't sleep if I spend an entire day without having sex.”
“I want to find my self in men's arms, feel men inside of me all the time.”
No,these vulgar confessions aren't what you find on public toilet walls.
They are what a growing number of women suffering from a little-known case of addiction tell their doctors and counselors.
According to Shukan Taishu, more and more Japanese women are becoming addicted to sex.
In a three-part report, the magazine informs us that a dependency on sex is a well-known symptom in the United States where it has been treated as a“sickness”for more than 10 years.
“There are many reported cases in the United States where addicted people took desperate actions.
The symptom is generally considered as a sickness peculiar to women,”medical journalist Junji Maki informs Shukan Taishu.
“Sex addiction is as serious as that to alcohol, nicotine and narcotics.”
While this condition remains virtually unknown in Japan, counseling sources note women suffering from it are growing in number.
“I used to suffer from sex dependency,”freelance journalist Yasuko Nihonmatsu confesses to Shukan Taishu.
“I used to hang out in bars every night to pick up men,”the 33-year-old says, recalling her condition seven years ago.
“I've never counted, but on an horny month,I must have slept with about 40 men.
I couldn't stand sleeping alone.
In those days,I was an alcoholic.
Night after night,I drank until I lost consciousness.
I used to wake up and find a man I had never seen before sleeping next to me.”
Nihonmatsu tell Shukan Taishu her problem started when her husband left her.
The condition stayed with her for four years until a man she could trust stepped into life.
Massage parlor employee Madoka,22,has a similar experience to share.
“When my boyfriend walked out on me,I became mentally unstable,”she says.
“I developed an overeating habit.
I became violent.
I couldn't calm myself down when I had nobody to sleep with.”
Madoka tells the magazine she took up her present job, thinking it might help her quench her thirst for men.
She was able to beat the addiction after going to bed with 100 men, excluding her customers, and finally meeting a man she could trust and love.
Shukan Taishu notes women addicted to love-making are aware of their condition.
They try to stop themselves from acting indecent and seducing men, but they always fail in their efforts.
“Like bulimia and anorexia, addiction to sex is a kind of balancing behavior,”explains psychiatrist Akitsugu Kuwazaki.
“Women with the condition have developed the feeling that they can not trust men.
They have totally closed their hearts on men.
In reaction, they look for excessive physical contact.”(TI)
