- タイタニック号は1912年にイギリスからアメリカへ航海中に沈没した言わずと知れた豪華客船である。このアルバムは、当時船内で演奏されていた楽曲の再演を収録したもの
- イギリスの船ということもありイギリスのライト音楽（Light Music）が中心となっている
- 当時、ポピュラー音楽とクラシック音楽の境界は明確ではなく、エルガーやワーグナーが小規模の編成の楽団で演奏された
- ミュージカルの前身で、より喜劇的・見せ物的な性格の強かったミュージカルコメディ（Musical Comedy）の楽曲も多い（Selections From The Musical Comedy The Arcadiansのほかには、Moonstruckが該当）
- イギリスの音楽シーンは盛り上がりを見せていた一方、アメリカのラグタイム（本アルバムではトラック６・10・15）やポピュラー音楽（本アルバムではトラック14・17・19）も台頭し始めていた
- さらに、英米以外のヨーロッパ諸国からはオペラが流入し、ライト音楽として演奏された（本アルバムではトラック３・４・９）
