YY-CHR is a sprite editor that can edit and display images in ROMs for NES, SNES, and other old consoles. Additionally, it comes with a palette editor and a background pattern editor.
It supports many image formats. Formats discussed below. (If you want to add a plugin for additional format support, please inquire on the YY-CHR forums).
For easy editing, theres a sort feature that displays using 8x8 pixel units. The sort function can be tweaked.
Because images in ROMs are often uncolored, it comes with a palette editor that colors them for display purposes (edit results do not affect images). There is also a function to read the palette from emulator state files to make it easier to reproduce the images in the game.
If using the Favorites feature (Jump List), you can change the list and apply names to image addresses and image formats. You can save the trouble of matching the address and matching the image format each time you open the file.
