Screen Explanation

Red box

The bank display.

Upper left image in red box

Image representation of the currently opened file.

Right side of red box

Scrollbar for navigating the CHR. There are also buttons mapped to the address changing functions in the navigation menu.

Image Mode combo box

Specifies what image format the file is. 
YY-CHR will convert the file as if it were the image format selected here. If you specify the wrong format, the image will not be displayed.
Generally the image format is determined by the target game console.  2bpp NES and 1bpp are typically used with the NES, and 4bpp SNES, 3bpp SNES, and 2bpp GB with the SNES.

Rotation combo box

Options for rotating the image.

Flipping combo box

Options for image reflection.

Display Pattern combo box

Display and line up in 8x8 units a transformed image.
If you specify a display pattern that matches the size of the picture displayed in the game, it can be displayed like an image in the game.
It is effective with games that have size templates (for example 16x16 map tiles, 32x32 enemy sprites, etc.).
I think you can easily see what kind of sorting will occur by looking at the window that appears when you press the edit button—a tip from Mr. YY-CHR.

Note

If you edit the image with the wrong address or file format selected, you may end up with a corrupted file.
Please edit the image such that it looks the same as in the game.

Mouse Operations

Left Click & Drag

Draw area selection.
Selects the region to edit using a fixed square.

Right Click & Drag

Scope selection
Used for editing the scopes of different actions such as

• Copy scope
• Scope of rectangular transformation (reflection, rotation, shifting)
• Pasting coordinates

Free quadrilateral selection.

Advanced Settings

It is possible to specify the range in 1-pixel units instead of 8x8 units.
