The Brusilov Offensive was a major assault against the armies of the Central Powers on the Eastern Front, launched on June 4, 1916 and lasting until early August. It took place in what today is Ukraine, in the general vicinity of the towns of Lemberg, Kovel, and Lutsk. The offensive was named after the Russian commander in charge of the Southwestern Front, Aleksei Brusilov. The success of the breakthrough was helped in large part by Brusilov's innovation of shock troops to attack weak points along the Austrian lines to effect a breakthrough which the main Russian Army could then exploit- a innovation later used by the Germans on the Western Front.

ブルシーロフ攻勢は1916年6月4日から8月前半まで行われた、東部戦線の中央同盟軍に対する大規模な攻撃である。これは現在のウクライナ、レンベルク（リヴィウ）、コーヴェリ、ルーツィクの町の周辺で戦われた。この名称は南西部戦線を指揮するロシア軍司令官、アレクセイ・ブルシーロフの名前から付けられた。この強行突破の成功はブルシーロフの打撃部隊が大きな助けとなっており、オーストリア・ハンガリー軍の戦線の弱点を突いてロシア軍主力の突破口を開けた。この戦法は後年ドイツ軍が西部戦線で使用した。
