Rebuilding manufacturing (President Trump).
The manufacturing and defence industries are important to Pennsylvania's economy.
- In 2017, President Trump signed Executive Order 13806, which identified deficiencies in the defence industrial base and developed a plan to address them.
- First, President Trump rebuilt Pennsylvania's 'defence industrial base' by making the Letterkenny Army Depot a key part of the US Patriot missile defence system.
- Secondly, President Trump has invested heavily in shipyards and combat vehicle factories to bring them up to full capacity. This has created many jobs.
'Increased defence needs' and 'leveraging tariffs'. With these two, President Trump supported the steel industry. This allowed him to create manufacturing jobs.(*2)
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (President Trump)
- In 2018, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act(President Trump's Tax Cuts and Jobs Act) was passed. This law reduced the price of Pennsylvania's "electric, gas and water utilities" by $320 million. As a result, it helped create 13,000 jobs in Pennsylvania.
