Tooks were an influential Hobbititsh family, living in the Tookland in the Westfarthing. The Tooks, because of their Fallohide blood, were (for Hobbits) rather adventurous, and tended to be leaders. The Thainship was hereditary in the Took family from the time of Isumvras 1 (the Third Age 2340), and Tooks were from time to time known to go off on adventures and even to become sailors.
