- "I do things so I get the benefits"; i.e. Self Centered. As opposed to "Egotist", does not necessarily mean a completely negative word. An Egoist does things to make sure that, in the end, nothing bad happens to himself at all (or, the chance of that happening is minimalized). In other words, he will not run into a bank and kill ten people just to get a lot of money (an absolute benefit) because he considers the consequences of such an action.

Cheerful, laid-back, overly easy going; Kale is the type of person who can talk to anyone and everyone, on whatever (unintellectual) topic possible, and come out sounding either

Perhaps due to his spontaneous attitude and seemingly extrovert nature, most people take him for a rash, hot-headed idiot who is passionate but doesn't think about things too deeply.

Perhaps due to his spontaneous attitude and seemingly extrovert nature, most people take him for a rash, hot-headed idiot who is passionate but doesn't think about things too deeply.
The opposite is true. Kale thinks a lot, calculates a lot, and tries to make sure that everything goes the right way, and nothing bad happens to himself. Passionate? About food and money and his own well-being, perhaps. And then you can draw the line of apathy towards anyone and everyone else.
Everything he does is done so that he can gain a profit or a benefit of some sorts... or, so that is the case when he doesn't make mistakes. Because Kale is human, he makes mistakes, and sometimes things go wrong. When things go wrong, Kale then shrinks back into his own corner and gets very, very cross with himself.
Original Setting: Abandoned by his mother in the marketplace of some random City at the age of eight after his father commits suicide due to a business failure and bankrupt. Is then taken in by a group of street children who go under the name of The Crows, and grows up under their "care". Later leaves the group to take up (mostly) solo jobs to ensure that he earns more than usual, before becoming a full-fledged mercenary.
Adept with the use of daggers, though more agile than anything else and has the tendency to prefer running away, or turning to the enemy's side when needed. Has magic involved with breaking into houses - lock-picking etc.
AU Setting: Orphan. Doesn't remember much about his parents... or so he claims. Even if he does Kale makes sure that he gets no where near remembering a thing about them, and so he is happy... well, not really happy since he has to worry about money and all that, but relatively happy. Is currently being sponsored by some rich family overseas, who pay his school fees and (one-room flat) rent.
