• Needhams Tower is a large building in the North wing of Ely College which is currently under renovation constructions and has been so for around a year as of early 2025.
• While RAAC was allegedly not found in the building after safety inspections by local regulators, as pointed out by sceptics in Alliance Number 1, the swift response after this claim to "renovate" and "reconnect" suggests otherwise.
• It is also important to mention the ongoing allegations of Chrysotile and asbestos variants being present all across the Needhams block. However,Ely College insists on declining to comment on this arguably significant circumstance.
• Be there asbestos or not, with the highest two floors of the block being "visibly sealed off by large thin wooden barricades" (as described by a student in an interview, 2023), and the walls overtly crumbling away, dereliction was in any case obvious and all parties believe in union that a retouching was long overdue.
• However, due to the school's budget the quality of construction seems "dismal" according to students who have witnessed the work in real time.
• As well as seemingly wasting time and making 0 net progress by placing and removing scaffolding repeatedly in the same areas or bringing in skips and cranes for them to seemingly do nothing, first-hand accounts claim to have witnessed workers seemingly pleasuring themselves in the building during working hours in plain view of all students beyond a window in the block, suggesting construction is not infact "on track" as the school body proudly claimed in January 2025.
• Projections aimed for its completion in Easter 2025, all while critics argued it came at the cost of students' health with fears of floors falling clean through or ceilings of RAAC collapsing. Such a tragedy has failed to come to fruition as of winter 2025, several months after the block's grand opening, although general consensus of students appear to be dissatisfaction at the stairways' unevenness, lacking width and jarring nature to climb or descend. The product of an unwary adolescent's excess momentum from such a discordant descent is suspected to be the cause of the complete fracturing of the front entrance door's glass which occurred in mid-2025, though alternative witness accounts claim the breakage seemed to be created by not a body but a rogue bullet.
