概要

レア社の対戦格闘ゲーム『Killer Instinct』のリメイク作。ただし開発はレアではなくDouble Helix Gamesが担当。
原作および続編は日本では発売されなかったので、シリーズとしての日本での正リリースはこの作品が初となる。
その後キャラクターを追加した『Season 2』と『Season 3』が追加配信された。

音楽は『Season1・2』を後に『DOOM(2016)』で名を馳せるMick Gordon氏、『Season 3』をAtlas Plug氏とCelldweller氏が担当している。
ボーカルを使った曲が多くサウンドには力が入れてある。また過去作からのアレンジもあってファンサービスも欠かしていない。
