How to play Zebu

Ｚｅｂｕの遊び方

Any normal card game can be turned into a Zebu game by adding the following rule: Before you take normal turn, make a statement using the language pattern on the card that was last played, and say it to another player in the game. A good game for Zebu is the Modified Crazy Eights game; it's easy to learn, and each game doesn't last too long.
普通のトランプゲームならどれでも、次のルールを付け加えることで、Ｚｅｂｕのゲームに転用できる。「次のカードを引く前に、直前の者が使ったカードの言語パターンをつかって文を作り、ゲーム中の他のプレイヤーにそれを言うこと」。Ｚｅｂｕ用にむいたゲームは、改変版クレージー・エイツである。これは覚えるのが簡単で、プレイ時間もあまりかからない。

The Modified Crazy Eights game

改変版クレージー・エイツ

Deal out 7 cards to each player.
各プレイヤーに７枚ずつカードを配る。

Put the remaining cards face down to from the draw pile.
配り終えて残ったカードは伏せて、山札(プレイヤーがカードを引いていく山）に置く。

Turn one card over from the draw pile to form the discard pile.
山札からカードを１枚引いてめくり、場札（カードを捨てる場）に捨てる。

Take turns playing one card onto the discard pile, clockwise around the table.
時計回りの順で、自分の順番が回ってきたらカードを一枚、場札に積む。

A person can play a card from their hand onto the discard pile only if it matches the suit or the number (or A, K, Q, J) of the previous card.
カードの数かスーツ（クラブ、ダイヤ、ハート、スペード）が、一つ前に捨てられたカードと同じ場合のみ、自分の手持ちのカードから場札へ捨てることができる。

Eights are the exception. You can play an eight on any card.
８のカードは例外である。８のカードは場札にどのカードが出ていても、その上に捨てることができる。

If you can't play a card, then turn a card over from the draw pile to the discard pile.
捨てるカードが無い場合は、山札から１枚引いて、それを場札に積む。

Always begin your turn by making up a statement using the language pattern of the top card on the discard pile, and say it to someone else in the game.
場札の一番上のカードの言語パターンをつかって暗示文を作ることができたら、いつでも自分の番になる。そしてゲーム中の他のプレイヤーに作った暗示分を言う。

The first person to play all their cards wins.
最初に手持ちのカード全てを場札に出した者が勝者である。

In the Beginning

• You might want to begin by playing one game of modified crazy eights without saying any of the language patterns, so that everyone understands the card game.
  • 改変版クレイジーエイツを、言語パターンを一切使わずに、１ゲームやってみることから始めるのがよいだろう。そうやって全員がこのカードゲームを理解することになる。

• To make it easier, you can limit the kings of suggestions that players should make. Try limiting the suggestions to hypnotic induction suggestions like Relax, Feel Comfortable, and Close your eyes.
  • ゲームを簡単にするのに、プレイヤーがつくる暗示の種類に制限をつけることができる。リラックスする、心地よく感じる、目を閉じるといった催眠誘導の暗示に限定することを試してみよう。

Game Variations for Advanced Players

上級者向けのバリエーション

• Make each player's statement build on the statements of the previous players, so that all the statements form a continuous monologue.
  • 各プレイヤーは、直前のプレイヤーがつくった文に基づいて自分の文を作ってみよう。そうすればすべての文は、一連のものになる。

• Let the dealer of the hand specify how the embedded commands will be marked for that hand. This is a great way to generate flexibility in the many ways to mark embedded commands.

• If you have experience inducing hypnosis, you chan use the Zebu cards generate a hypnotic induction. Just turn over Zebu cards one at a time, and make a hypnotic statement with the pattern on several people take turn flipping over cards and talking, and one person goes into trance.
