In these several days, we got some tools for our expeiment; a new PC, ornaments for a Christmas tree, vanilla tea and so on. Many people workng in this building decorated the tree. How beautiful the mind of people in a department of science is!
Following our plan, what we must do in this year(*) is having a party of SUKIYAKI, YAKINIKU or TAKOYAKI. We should discuss about how we can get a Hot plate.

Prof.Sasao suggested the preliminary experiment; see a drop of silicon oil splashed with CCD camera, and culculate the size of drop. We may do this experiment without Eletric field or Piezoelectric element( an ink cartridge of printer?).

For this preliminary experiment, 2 days ago, we asked Mr.Nomura to buy silicon oil of 1 kilogram.
And yesterday we started calculating how we can see "object" satisfying some condition( expanding to 500 times or 200～300times, forbidding any lenses to approach within 50～100mm and so on). However, the setting we need is very accurate unless our calculation is wrong.
So we called NICON and SIGMA KOKI, and asked how to do the experiment more easily( NICON is the CCD camera making company. SIGMA KOKI is lens making company). While NICON suggested no plan, SIGMA KOKI answered that they needed some days for calculating the setting. We will wait for buying lenses until they finish calculating and call us.

The day when we will get silicon oil and lenses is uncertain. Therefore, all we can do about these problem is waiting their calling.
What we want to do untill their calling is;

• accustoming the calculating soft "poisson superfish".
• making a very small hole on a thin metal, and see the hole with a microscope.
• making the device to splash silicon oil.

In order to finish this preliminary experiment in this year, we want to do our best.)

Today we had make a rough schedule of our experiment. Our goal became to obtain three-order-precision value. We are going to prepare every thing by January and start getting data in February.
We are going to get an computer for CCD Camera data taking. I enjoyed a cup of tea with honey. It tasted good.

Today's Progress: We got an order sheet of sillicon oil.　　　S.T.

I will keep this diary in super English, because I don't understand English.
Today we set up a Christmas tree, and make a plan for our experiment(*). Following this plan, we will have to decorate the tree by the Christmas day.
I'm from Japan. This is a pen. T.M.

(* We list what we should do for our experiment, and write it on a large paper. The contents of this list are divided into four groups : "Camera", "Oil", "Electric field", and "others".
What tools and materials can we use? How do we get them?)

I will keep this diary in English as my computer had broken and this Gokurakucho thing doesn't let us input Japanese characters.
Today we've finally decided our theses' theme. Regrettably, we are very late and in a quite tight schedule. So we have to make our best effort. For our pleasure, Prof.Sasao will treat us to dinner if we can obtain the order-precise value of an elementary charge by March.
To achieve our study, we are going to do seminars about the optics and the fluid dynamics.
Let's enjoy our last study as the undergraduate. S.T.
