I am one of those people who didn't feel comfortable with the existence of
nuclear power plants in Japan, a geographically small country with a dense
population.

Our material technology is still far too immature to fully prevent natural
disasters.
disasters.
A better source of energy is up in the sky. The sun, which is a kind of gigantic
natural nuclear reactor, gives the earth so much engery that the amount received
in an hour, if converted to electricity, supports the whole mankind for a full
year. This means that if we should be able to cover 1% of Japan's landscape with
solar cells, we need no other power plants.

Now, 30% of Japan's landscape is being utilized in some economic way. Covering
the roofs of every building and house will probably be sufficient for us to do
away with nuclear reactors in Japan.
