概要
小島プロダクション解散後に開発されたメタルギアシリーズ。
時系列的には『
メタルギアソリッドV グラウンド・ゼロズ』終了直後で、ワームホールによって別世界に送られた1兵士が主人公。
異形のクリーチャーから生き延びるというサバイバルをメインとした作品で、シリーズ特有の政治・軍事的なストーリーとはまた違った別のアプローチが取られている。
作曲陣も一新されておりコナミの若手作曲者たちが担当。今作ではボーカル曲は収録されていない。
オーディオディレクターは元小島プロダクションの
照田明弘氏が務めている。
これまでのシリーズの作風とは異なるもののサバイバルのイメージに合った緊迫感のある曲が多く、特にラストバトル一連のBGMの流れが秀逸。
サントラのディスク3には『メタルギアオンライン』のBGMも収録されている。
