Rez can be used for more than just pumping out ships.
You can use it to buy new weapons and components on the Black Market.
You will have a hard time getting anywhere in the galaxy without buying new gear.
Black markets can usually be found at UTA and Civilian space stations.
Explore often, and keep an eye out for the vendor icon to see if a station has items for sale.
You'll also need to watch the faction relation icon.
If the station's faction dislikes you, you won't be able to buy from them.
You'll either have to find a way to make them happy, or you'll have to take what you want by force (not recommended for rookies).
