"Carrion"考察

• Carrionの意味は死体、又は腐肉であり、まさにゾンビそのものを指している。ラテン語で"肉"を意味する"Carn"が元。
• 歌詞の中で何度もCarry Onと言い換えられており、A7Xが提供した「Carry On」と「再開」という意味に掛けたものとなっている。
• 今までのゾンビテーマを担当していたElena Siegman以外のボーカルによる初のテーマ。ストーリー上でのキーパーソンが今までの女性から男性に変化した事に関わっていると思われる。ゾンビモードのストーリーの項目を参照。
• 歌詞中に過去のゾンビテーマの曲名が複数登場している。"The One""Undone""115""Damned"の4つ。
  • 他にも直接歌詞には出てこないが、"Abracadavre"と関連する歌詞がある。"Shadow, Nothing, all I am"の部分がそうで、これらは"Abracadavre"の歌詞中にある2つの謎かけの答えである。
• ボーカルとされているClark S. Novaであるが名前を見て前作とつながりを感じた人がいるかもしれない。
  • 前作のキャンペーンで重要なものとして据えられていた兵器がNova 6であり、その開発者はClarke博士。
  • また、前作のゾンビモードに登場したクロウラーはNova 6の実験によって生まれたものである。

• "Xenopsylla Cheopis"とはノミの一種である"ケオプスネズミノミ"の学名。
• "MDCLXV"は一見すると無意味な文字列に見えるが、ローマ数字の単位で1000、500、100、50、10、5、つまり1665を意味する。
• 上記二つをあわせるとケオプスノミネズミと西暦1665年となり、ロンドンのペスト大流行を示している。
• "helicase"はヘリカーゼ、核酸をほどく働きをする酵素の名称。
• "CXV"はローマ数字で"115"を意味する。
