Assadist Ba'athism or the Corrective Movement, is a term used to describe the policies of Hafez al-Assad and his successor, Bashar al-Assad. Rooted in Ba'athism, a pan-Arab socialist ideology, Assadism has evolved into a separate form, shaped by the policies of the Assad dynasty. Elements of Assadism include secularism, Arab nationalism, and socialism, which is fundamental to Ba'athism, though its practical implementation has often involved economic pragmatism and shifts in said policies. The ideology prioritizes the maintenance of a strong, centralized bureaucratic state utilizing Popular Fronts to solidify control around a single party, the Ba'ath Party, with an emphasis on political stability and the suppression of dissent. This has drawn criticism from both in and outside of Syria, with the autocratic rule of Bashar al-Assad leading to an attempted revolution and Civil War in the 2010s. While they have the same roots as the Iraqi Ba'ath, they have various differences, with Hafez's liberalization and privatization efforts of the 2000s contrasting Saddam's economy.
