iPS細胞

iPS細胞（アイピーエスさいぼう）とは、induced pluripotent stem cell（人工多能性幹細胞）の略であり、体細胞に特定の遺伝子(未)を導入して、分化万能性（それ自体では個体を形成できないが、適切に誘導すれば全ての細胞に分化(未)させられる性質）を持たせた細胞のこと。2007年11月20日、ヒトiPS細胞が京都大学(未)山中教授らによって樹立され、学術雑誌セルに発表された。
