The liberaton of France began with the Normandy Landings on June 6. 1944{commonly known as D-Day).
The battle for Normandy continued for more than two months. with campaigns to establish a foothold on France, and concluded with the close of the Falaise pocket, the subsequent liberation of Paris on 25 August 1944.
and the German retreat across the Seine which was_ completed on 30 August 1944.
American forces were fighting in Brittany as anticipated by General Montgomery during the latter weeks of the campaign, and their historians consider the Normandy campaign to have ended with the massive breakout of Operation Cobra.

Kamikaze {神風,. "divine wind") is a word of Japanese origin, which in English usually refers to the suicide attacks by military aviators from the Empire of Japan against Allied shipping. in the closing stages of the Pacific campaign of World War ll.
to destroy as many warships as possible.
Kamikaze pilots would attempt to intentionally crash their aircraft — often laden with explosives. bombs. torpedoes and full fuel tanks — into Allied ships.
The aircraft's normal role was essentially converted to that of a manned missile in a desperate attempt to reap the benefits of greatly increased accuracy and payload over that of a normal bomb.
The goal of crippling as many Allied capital ships as possible was considered critical enough to warrant the sacrifice of an aviator and his aircraft.
These attacks. beginning in October 1944. followed several critical military defeats for Japan.
