Default Mode | ★★★☆☆ | ★★★★☆ |
Brainiac Mode | ★★★★☆ | ★★★★★ |
- Language Level is the second level in this game.
- The subject is language, and the teacher is Lucas Golenevsky.
- This level is characterized by the fact that all elements, such as the characters, notebook settings, and maps, are significantly more difficult than the previous Math Level, so even if you are familiar with the basic system and controls from the previous level, you will likely struggle.
- Due to its extreme difficulty, many people feel that this level is the most challenging.
- While the subject this time is language, the unique feature of this level is that there are also math notebooks scattered throughout. If you decide to collect the math notebooks as well, Angelica Wilkins will join Lucas in pursuing you, making the battle even more intense.
- However, there is a bonus reward for those who collect all the math notebooks before collecting all the language notebooks, so it is worth the challenge. Especially for those aiming to complete all achievements, this is a must-do.
- This level, like the previous one, is heavily influenced by the Language Level of AEwVS, with numerous elements that seem to pay homage to it.

Notebook

- When you use the notebook, the familiar sound effect from AEwVS will play, followed by the display of seven English sentences.
- Some of the English sentences contain missing letters, which you must click on and input the correct letters for. Pressing the check button on the left side of the screen will determine whether your answers are correct, after which you can retrieve the notebook. Once you have input all the letters, press the check button.
- Additionally, there are numbers written on the right side of the notebook. These numbers are necessary to clear the level, so it is advisable to take notes before starting the problem.
- While the basic nature of this notebook is the same as the Language level notebook in AEwVS, there are some differences.
- First, the missing characters are not determined for each sentence, but for all sentences. Therefore, there may be sentences with no missing characters, or conversely, sentences with many missing characters. The latter also occurs in AEwVS by the way.
- In addition, blank spaces are also selected as missing characters, and in this case, the correct answer is to press the space bar to insert a blank space.
- Furthermore, the number of missing characters varies greatly, and in some cases, it can be solved in seconds, while in others, it can take much longer than expected.
- The number of missing characters depends on the difficulty level, and the higher the difficulty level, the more characters you have to fill in, which takes more time to solve.
- Additionally, starting from the 13th notebook, the number of missing characters increases, so it is necessary to confirm that there is sufficient distance between the teacher and the student before using the notebook.

- The basic flow is the same as the previous level. When the level starts, go to the classroom and solve the notebook.
- One slight difference from last time is that there are two notebooks available from the start, and the first one does not contain any questions that cannot be answered correctly. Therefore, as long as you do not answer incorrectly, you can collect both notebooks without being chased. Incidentally, the same specification exists in the same level of AEwVS, and this specification is thought to be a tribute to that.
- As before, if you answer a question incorrectly, Lucas will become enraged and start chasing you. The fact that doors that were previously closed can now be opened and the need to collect 20 notebooks while escaping remain the same.
- However, the door on the left side from the starting point will not open. Proceed further through the door on the right side.
- Compared to the previous level, this level features a significantly larger and more complex map, and there are hardly any clear guides, so exploring alone can be challenging for those unfamiliar with it.
- Furthermore, some areas resemble other areas, so it is easy to get lost if you do not have a clear grasp of the overall map and your current location.
- In addition, the area of darkness has expanded, and the visible distance has become shorter.
- For these reasons, understanding the overall map is even more important than in other levels in order to clear this level.
- If it is difficult to understand the map at normal difficulty, it is a good idea to walk around the map in Puss mode. In Puss mode, there is no darkness as mentioned above, making exploration much easier.
- From this level onward, a new character named Kittie appears. He quickly patrols the level, and if he spots you moving, he will rush toward you at high speed to attack.
- Once he starts chasing you, escaping is nearly impossible, but if you have the Tuna fish item in your hand (keep the cursor over it), it will act as a substitute for you, so make sure to keep at least one. Note that even if you have it, you will be killed normally if you don't hold it in your hand, so as soon as you detect his approach, immediately move the cursor to the Tuna fish.
- Additionally, if you have multiple Tuna fish, he will take all of them, not just one, so it's best to carry only one or discard all but one as soon as you are spotted.
- Furthermore, he will only attack when he detects movement, so if you remain stationary, you will not be killed even if you are within his field of vision. He constantly emits an annoying noise, so if you hear the noise, it is effective to stop immediately and wait for him to move on.
- However, since his field of vision is omnidirectional and extends to extremely long distances, it is possible for him to spot you even if you are walking down a long corridor and he is so far away that you cannot hear the noise. In such cases, it is nearly impossible to detect his approach, so caution is advised.
- Additionally, sub-characters from the previous level, such as Jimmy, Samara, and Principal, will continue to appear, so be careful as before.
- Lucas, the teacher in this level, moves slowly under normal circumstances, but his footsteps are very quiet, and he has the ability to temporarily accelerate while being watched.
- His footsteps are so quiet that it is extremely difficult to detect his approach, and if you act carelessly, you may be caught off guard at a corner or door, or he may catch up to you while you are solving the notebook, making him a significant threat. Therefore, it is strongly recommended to check for footsteps before proceeding around corners or through doors, and to explore while estimating his location.
- While he is in your line of sight, he will track you at approximately twice his normal speed. It's not a sudden acceleration, but acceleration is still troublesome, so unless you want to lure him in, it's best to avoid keeping him in your line of sight.
- This level has 20 math notebooks in addition to the language notebooks. If you decide to collect the math notebooks as well, Angelica will also start chasing you, and you will have to keep running away from both teachers at the same time. Not only does the number of notebooks to collect increase, but you also have to run away from two teachers who are already threatening enough on their own, so the difficulty level increases significantly.
- However, if you manage to collect all 20 math notebooks, Angelica will stop chasing you and will assist you during the final chase (details below). There are achievements that can only be obtained by clearing the game in this state, so be sure to give it a try.
- However, if you collect all the language notebooks first, the final chase will start immediately, and you will not be able to collect the math notebooks, so be sure to collect all the math notebooks first.
- If you want to collect the math notebooks as well, you can balance collecting math and language notebooks at first, but once you have collected a certain number of math notebooks, ignore the language notebooks and focus on collecting only the math notebooks. The language notebooks have heavy content, and Angelica's pursuit speed is quite fast, so collecting both at the same time is quite difficult. Once you have collected all the math notebooks, Angelica will stop tracking you, so it is best to start collecting the language notebooks at that point.
- If there is Dog Beef in the classroom, be sure to pick it up. This is an item similar to Chicken, but targeting Lucas, and using it allows you to retreat Lucas to a specific location.
- Most of its properties are the same as Chicken, but this one needs to be opened in advance. When used at any time, this item changes to an “Opened Dog Beef” item, and using this Opened Dog Beef near Lucas activates its effect. There are no drawbacks to opening it, so once you obtain Dog Beef, immediately convert it to Opened Dog Beef.
- Like Chicken, it does not waste when used when the teacher is not nearby, and it is effective up to three times. When used, Lucas retreats to “Lucas's closet” near Samara's room and resumes tracking after staying there for a certain amount of time.
- Since Lucas is difficult to detect when approaching, this item is extremely powerful as it eliminates the possibility of being caught by repeatedly using it. If you're not sure whether Lucas is around corners or doors, it's best to keep using it repeatedly. However, be careful not to accidentally throw it away in the trash.
- In the latter half of the level, Lucas's speed increases significantly, and the notebook's contents become very heavy, making this item extremely powerful for ensuring long-term safety. In the latter half, waiting for him to arrive and using it the moment he does to quickly retrieve the notebook and launch a relentless attack is also a highly effective strategy. For this reason, it is advisable to conserve the use of Dog Beef as much as possible. However, if you decide to execute this strategy, be mindful of Samara's hair length.
- Once you collect a certain number of notebooks (*2), Lucas will start breaking down doors. He can open the door on his own, so the difficulty level doesn't change much, but the loud noise will startle you. However, since the door is destroyed, the chance of him catching you on the other side of the door decreases, and the loud noise makes it easier to pinpoint his location. Both of these changes are advantageous to you, so make use of them.
- In the latter half of the level, Lucas's speed increases significantly, and the notebooks become much heavier, so attempting to solve them at an intermediate distance will result in being easily caught. In the latter half, it is advisable to either significantly distance yourself from him or use Opened Dog Beef before attempting to solve the notebooks.
- If using the latter method, it is advantageous to stay away from Lucas's locker, so it is recommended to leave notebooks in distant locations until the latter half of the game. However, the 20th notebook is fixed in position, so if you stray too far from it, you will have to walk a considerable distance. For this reason, it is recommended to leave the notebooks around this location. Once you have collected about 15 notebooks, wait in front of the notebooks to chase Lucas away, then collect another 2 or 3 notebooks and wait in front of the notebooks again. By repeating this process, you should be able to reach the final chase without too much difficulty.
- As in the previous game, the 20th notebook is located in a room labeled “19,” and you cannot enter it until you have collected 19 notebooks. Note that this applies to the language notebooks; the math notebooks are all placed so that they can be collected at any time.
- Once you collect all 20 language notebooks, just like last time, the darkness of the level disappears, and the teacher stops chasing you and speaks to you. Lucas is surprised that you've collected all the notebooks and praises you, but also tells you that the nightmare isn't over yet and that he won't tolerate ignorant students like Emily. Just like last time, you'll have to face him in a final chase.
- The flow from there is almost the same as last time. When the BGM becomes intense, Lucas kicks down the door at the back of the room and resumes the chase, and at that moment, the lock on the door to exit the room is unlocked. As before, stick to the door leading outside and dash out the moment the lock is unlocked.
- Unlike last time, this level has no exit, so the player must aim for the elevator and activate it before being caught by him. When you examine the black panel on the elevator wall, a form appears where you must enter 20 numbers. The player must enter all the numbers written on the right side of the language notebook into these forms.
- Note that if you have collected 20 math notebooks, Angelica will appear in front of the elevator and stop Lucas. Since the restraint time is infinite, if you escape into the elevator, clearing the level is almost guaranteed.
- Since you need to enter 20 numbers into the panel, if you do it normally, Lucas will catch up to you before you finish entering them. Therefore, one of the following measures is necessary.
- 1. After entering part of the numbers, escape again to increase the distance between you and Lucas. The entries into the panel are saved, and you can interrupt the entry by pressing the CHECK button. Therefore, if you interrupt the input after entering a certain amount, run out of the room, escape to gain some distance, and then return to the elevator, you can finish the input without being caught up. However, Lucas's pursuit speed is quite fast, so it is extremely difficult to shake him off if you don't run out of the room, and you need to be careful about the timing of interrupting the input.
- 2. Enter the numbers in advance. As mentioned earlier, the numbers you enter into the panel are saved, so if you enter a certain amount of numbers before entering the final chase, the number of numbers you need to enter during the final chase will be reduced. If you enter at least 15 numbers, you will be able to finish entering the numbers before being caught up. If you make a mistake when entering the numbers, use method 1 to recover. However, if you have entered too few numbers in advance, recovery will be difficult if you make a mistake, so be careful.
- 3. Get help from Angelica. As mentioned earlier, if you collect 20 math notebooks, Angelica will restrain Lucas in front of the elevator, so if you can escape to the elevator, you will definitely clear the stage. However, you must collect all the math notebooks in advance, which is extremely difficult, so the first two strategies are clearly easier overall.
- By the way, the input form on the panel is unlocked as you collect notebooks, so it is impossible to break through by brute force in the first stage.
- Once you have entered all the numbers correctly on the panel, the bell will ring, the BGM will stop, Lucas' anger will subside, and the pursuit will stop. In this state, pressing the up arrow button on the elevator will close the elevator, completing the level.
- Incidentally, the Blue Door Key is located inside the trash can on the right side of the room where Angelica is initially waiting. However, despite there being several doors that cannot be opened in this level, for some reason this key cannot open any of them either, rendering it useless just like last time. Did the creators have a personal vendetta against this key?
- In the remastered version, most of the graphics and music in the level have been completely revamped, just like last time. As a result, the atmosphere of the level has also changed significantly. However, unlike last time, there are no particular changes to the map.
- Like other levels, a nurse was added to the treatment room in version 1.2 of the remastered version.
- In version 1.2.3 of the remastered version, the room with the key icon near Samara's room became a secret room and can now be opened with the Blue Door Key.
- Like other levels, there is a Mystery Book inside, which reveals Lucas' secret.
- In the remastered version 1.3.0, the number of text types displayed in the notebook has increased by 60. While the variety has become richer, the difficulty has also risen further...
