Overview
- This page explains the flow of the game and its basic systems.
- If you want to know more about the game itself and its story, please refer to About this game. Here, we will explain the game aspects in detail.
Game Flow
- As mentioned in About this game, the main goal of this game is to escape from the approaching teacher while solving problems in notebooks scattered throughout the school and collecting all the notebooks to escape.
- When the level begins, the teacher will greet you first. At this point, the teacher is friendly and poses no immediate threat. After exchanging greetings and introductions, the teacher will instruct you to go to a nearby classroom and solve the notebook problems, so follow their instructions and head to the classroom.
- When you enter the classroom and use the notebook, the teacher will provide an explanation about the notebook. This explanation is only given once, so listen carefully. Once you understand what needs to be done, begin solving the problems in the notebook.
- Once you solve all the problems in the notebook, you can collect it. Correct answers are generally required, but even if you answer incorrectly, you can still collect the notebook. However, if you answer even one question incorrectly, the teacher will become enraged. Note that there is generally one question in the notebook that cannot be solved, so ultimately, you will inevitably answer incorrectly.
- If you answer a question incorrectly, the teacher will become furious and try to kill you. This is where the game really begins, and the player must escape from the teacher while collecting all the notebooks.
- The more questions you answer incorrectly, the faster the teacher will move, making the final stage of the game quite challenging. Use items and strategies to collect all the notebooks.
- Once all notebooks are collected, you will face the final chase with the teacher. The format varies by level, but in all cases, you must run away from the teacher, who is closing in at high speed, while doing the final mission to escape the level. Overcoming this will finally clear the level, so stay focused until the end.
- If you successfully clear the final chase, you will finally clear the level. The protagonist will advance to the next floor, unlocking a new level.
Basic System
Controls
- This game is controlled using the keyboard and mouse. The controls are almost the same as AEwVS.
- Use the WASD keys to move and the mouse to control the camera. You can also run by holding down the left Shift key while moving. However, running consumes stamina, and once your stamina is depleted, you can no longer run.
- Additionally, you can use the arrow keys to move forward and backward. Sideways movement is not supported.
- Incidentally, in this game, you can run while looking backward.
- In versions 1.2 to 1.23 of the remastered edition, running also reduced sanity. Starting from version 1.3.0, this feature was removed, and instead, sanity decreases while solving the notebooks.
- Press the E key to interact objects in front of you. This is used for opening doors, picking up items, etc.
- Pressing the C key allows you to take a deep breath. While holding the key, you inhale air, and when you release it, you exhale the inhaled air. While inhaling, your air gauge decreases, and when exhaling, your sanity recovers depending on the amount inhaled. Additionally, your movement speed decreases while inhaling.
- Moving the mouse wheel or pressing the 1–4 keys on the keyboard allows you to select and hold the item you are carrying. Right-clicking while holding an item allows you to use it, and pressing the R key allows you to discard it on the spot.
- However, right-clicking in front of a trash can discards the item without using it.
- Pressing the Q key opens the pause menu. The pause menu allows you to resume, change settings, return to the title screen, or exit the game. While the pause menu is open, time stops, allowing you to take a short break.
- In version 1.2.2 and later of the remastered version, you can check the Level Task by pressing the TAB key. The Level Task tells you what to do in that level, and it is updated sequentially as you fulfill the conditions.
- However, the content is rather vague, so you don't need to worry too much about it.
UI

- This image is the game screen. We will use this as a basis for our explanation.
- The green bar at the bottom left of the screen is the stamina gauge. It decreases as you run, and when it runs out, you can no longer run. It recovers when you stop running, or you can use food items such as chocolate bars to recover it.
- The red bar at the bottom of the screen is the sanity gauge. It decreases when you are near Samara or similar, and when it runs out, you will die. You can recover it by taking a deep breath.
- In version 1.2 and later of the remastered version, you can no longer solve the notebook if your sanity is too low. Additionally, Nurse has been added, and you can fully recover your sanity by using her. Furthermore, the amount of sanity recovered through deep breathing has been significantly reduced, making it difficult to rely solely on deep breathing for recovery.
- Additionally, in versions 1.2 to 1.23 of the remastered version, sanity decreased while running, but this was removed in version 1.3.0 and later, and instead, sanity now decreases while solving notes.
- The light blue bar in the lower right corner of the screen is the air gauge. It decreases while taking deep breaths, and if it runs out, you will cough, but there are no particular disadvantages. (*1)Even if you do nothing, it will recover naturally.
- The four circles on the right side of the screen are the item slots. When you pick up an item, it will be displayed in one of these circles. Each item occupies one slot, so you can carry a maximum of four items.
- The red frame attached to the slot (in the image, it is attached to the top circle) represents the cursor. When you align the cursor with an item, you can hold it in your hand. When you hold an item, its name will be displayed on the left side of the circle, and you can use that item in this state.
- The display at the top of the screen indicates the number of notebooks you need to collect. Your first goal is to collect all the notebooks shown on the display.
- In version 1.4.2 and later of the remastered version, there is a body temperature gauge at the bottom left. This gauge increases or decreases depending on the room temperature, and if it reaches the maximum or minimum value, you will die.
- Some rooms have different room temperatures than other areas, causing your body temperature to increase or decrease rapidly while you are there, so it is best not to stay too long. Conversely, in other areas, your body temperature will not fluctuate, so there is no need to worry.
- If there are notes in a room with a different room temperature, it is advisable to consider whether you might die while solving them before deciding whether to solve them.
Level Gimmicks
- There are various gimmicks on the level. If used effectively, they may be the key to clearing the level.
- Here, we introduce generic gimmicks that appear in most levels.
Vending Machine
- A black rectangular vending machine. Using coin items on it allows you to exchange them for specific items.
- Specifically, 25 cents can be exchanged for Soda, and 50 cents for a Chocolate Bar. 1 cent cannot be used, likely due to its small denomination.
- Starting from version 1.3.1 of the remastered version, coins no longer replace items. instead, items appear from below when coins are used. While this adds realism, but it also made picking up items more cumbersome.
Water Dispenser
- A gray water dispenser. Examining it allows you to drink water and slightly restore stamina.
- There is a slight interval between each recovery, so repeatedly clicking does not significantly increase the recovery amount.
Trash Can
- A gray rectangular trash can. Left-clicking near the trash can allows you to discard the item you are holding, and inspecting it allows you to rummage through its contents.
- Rummaging through the trash can randomly grants you its contents with a certain probability. This determination is made each time you inspect it, so repeatedly clicking is recommended if you want the contents.
- The contents of the trash can are mixed, and may be empty, or contain garbage items such as Used cans, food items such as Chocolate bar, or Chicken. Additionally, certain trash cans always contain a Blue door key.
- However, the probability of finding something useful is low, so even if you want items, it is sufficient to quickly inspect it as you pass by. If you want items, don't obsess over trash cans, but head to the classroom instead.
Lockers
- Blue rectangular lockers. They can sometimes be opened with a lock pick, and you can search the contents of opened lockers.
- The lock-picking check occurs every time you use the lock pick, so rapid clicking is recommended when opening them.
- In the remastered version, the design has changed to red.
- It takes effort to open them, but they usually contain nothing, so the cost and return are clearly not worth it. It's generally best to ignore them.
- However, some lockers in certain levels may contain a Blue door key, which plays an important role in some levels, so it's not recommended to completely disregard them. Keep them in the back of your mind.
Bell
- A black rectangular bell. It is leaning against the wall and rings every three minutes.
- The sound of the bell signifies the transition between lesson time and break time. Initially, it is lesson time, and if you are caught violating school rules, such as running, by the Principal, you will be taken away. However, once the bell rings and it becomes break time, you will no longer be taken away during that period. For more details, refer to the Principal page.
- It is possible to completely ignore it, but it is a valuable clue to determine whether actions like running are permitted, so it is worth utilizing if you want to improve your gameplay.
- However, in the classic version,
there is a bug where the time transition does not function properly in some levels
, so be cautious as it is ineffective in those levels.
- Note that this bug was fixed in version 1.4.0 of the remastered version, so you no longer need to concern in the remastered version.
- In some locations, there are no bells nearby at all, so the sound may not reach you at all, so be careful.
- However, in the classic version,
there is a bug where the time transition does not function properly in some levels
, so be cautious as it is ineffective in those levels.
- In version 1.4.0 and later of the remastered version, when you approach a bell, it will display whether it is currently lesson time or break time. If you are unsure, it is advisable to check.
Fire Alarm
- A fire alarm shaped like a red box. Added in version 1.3.0 of the remastered version.
- Pressing the button will sound an alarm, and you will then be taken to Principal for pressing the alarm for no reason. At this level, there are only disadvantages to pressing it, so it is usually not recommended to press it.
- By the way, as a side note, when you press this, Emily performs a special motion for pressing it. You can see it by looking down, so if you have time, you might want to check it out. It's obvious that she can't reach the button
and if she moves she slides, but that's part of the charm.
Difficulty level
- This game allows you to select the difficulty level at the start of each level.
- The difficulty levels available are Puss, Boi, Default, and Brainiac, in order of ease.
- In addition to these difficulty levels, you can also select the “Teachers stop moving” option.
- When this option is selected, time stops while you are solving the notebooks, and the characters cease to move entirely. As a result, the difficulty level decreases significantly, but in exchange, you cannot earn any achievements or ACoins. However, even if you clear the level using this option, the next level will still be unlocked, so it's worth trying if you can't clear the level.
- Note that this option cannot be used in Music level or later.
- The differences between each difficulty level are as follows.
Puss Mode
- This is a practice difficulty level with significantly different specifications from the other difficulty levels.
- The teacher is always Angelica Wilkins, and you are constantly followed.
- Greetings will be special ones unique to each level.
- Since she is not enraged, you will not die even if you come into contact with her.
- If there are math notebooks, collecting all of them will make her disappear.
- The BGM will be replaced with a dedicated one for each level.
- Even if you answer a question incorrectly, in the Math level, you will be asked to retry without an incorrect answer judgment, while in other levels, an incorrect answer judgment will be made but nothing will happen.
- No other characters besides the teacher appear.
- No items appear (except those that appear in the final chase).
- ACoin cannot be obtained.
- Collecting all the notebooks causes Angelica to disappear, and the final chase proceeds normally with a special line.
- Clearing the level grants a dedicated achievement, but it does not count as a clear, and the next level is not unlocked.
Boi Mode
- The easiest difficulty level among those that count as a clear.
- Notebook problems are either simple in content or have fewer questions.
- The teacher's pursuit speed is slower.
- In some levels, the teacher's abilities are unlocked later.
- Samara's hair grows slower.
- Jimmy's restraints can be easily broken.
- Kittie and Ertoo Walkatosia appear later.
- ACoin can be obtained as usual.
- Upon clearing the level, you will obtain the standard clear achievement and the next level is unlocked.
Default Mode
- Standard difficulty.
- Notebook problems have standard content or a standard number of problems.
- The teacher's tracking speed is standard.
- In some levels, the teacher's abilities are unlocked at a standard timing.
- Samara's hair grows at a standard speed.
- Jimmy's restraints can be easily broken.
- Kittie and Ertoo Walkatosia appear at standard timing.
- ACoin can be obtained as usual.
- Upon clearing the level, you will obtain the standard clear achievement and the next level will be unlocked.
Brainiac Mode
- The highest difficulty level for challengers, so difficult that even those who have cleared Default Mode will struggle.
- The notebook problems are either difficult in content or numerous in quantity.
- In some levels, the teacher's pursuit speed is faster.
- In some levels, the teacher's abilities are unlocked earlier or enhanced.
- Samara's hair grows at a faster rate.
- Jimmy's restraints are difficult to break free from.
- Kittie and Ertoo Walkatosia appear from the start.
- You can obtain more ACoins than usual.
- Upon clearing the level, you will obtain both the standard clear achievement and a special achievement, after which the next level will be unlocked.
Options

- Press the “OPTION” button in the title menu or pause menu to change the options.
- The following settings can be adjusted.
Screen Resolution
- You can change the screen resolution.
- The available resolutions are 1280x720 and 1920x1080.
- Checking the “VSync Enabled?” option enables VSync (vertical sync). When enabled, the graphics card's FPS is adjusted to match the monitor's FPS.
Language
- You can change the language within the game.
- The available languages are American English and Italian.
- Note that the language only affects subtitles and some system displays; audio, level decorations, and other system displays remain unchanged.
- As a result, Italian-speaking players are at a slight disadvantage compared to English-speaking players. While the remastered version has improved this slightly, it is still not fully translated.
- As an aside, there is a bug in Untitled3 where the test audio that should play first does not play when the language is set to Italian.
But that's beside the point...
- In the remastered version, this option was initially removed, but it was restored in the subsequent version 1.1 update.
- Incidentally, due to this change, the layout of the options in the remastered version differs from that of the classic version.
Mouse sensitivity
- You can adjust the mouse sensitivity by moving the slider. This feature was added in version 1.1.0.
- The higher the sensitivity, the greater the movement of the mouse cursor.
ACoin
- A system added in version alpha 0.0.5.
- As you progress through the game, you can earn ACoins, which can be used to purchase special levels in the Store by paying a certain amount of coins.
- The main ways to earn coins are as follows. However, you cannot earn coins at all if you select Puss mode or use the Teachers stop moving option.
- Collect notebooks. Unlike AEwVS, you can obtain coins by solving all the problems in a notebooks and collecting it, regardless of the number of correct answers. The basic number of coins obtained is 1, but in Music level it's 2. In Brainiac mode, you can obtain +1 more coins than this.
- Pick up coins that are lying around. Sometimes coins are lying around on the level, and you can obtain coins simply by checking them. The number of coins obtained varies, and you may only obtain 1 coin at times, but you can obtain up to 5 coins at other times.
- Clear the level. Clearing a level allows you to earn a large number of coins. The number of coins earned is generally 50 regardless of the level or difficulty level, but if you clear the Math level in Default mode or Boi mode, you can only earn 10 coins, and if you clear the Final era level, you cannot earn any coins at all.
- For levels that can be purchased, refer to the Store page.
Account System
- A system added in version alpha 0.0.7. By entering your username and password on the login screen displayed on the title screen when the game starts, you can play the game using that account.
- When logged in, “Connected as (username)” is displayed in the upper right corner of the title screen, and a similar display appears in the upper right corner when the level begins.
- There are no other benefits, so those who don't care can skip logging in or signing up.
- Note that when not logged in, “Player” is displayed instead of the username.
- If you don't have an account, you can create one by signing up.
- The system was removed in the remastered version.
