Profile and Career

Tom(born 1989) is one of the top players, who has played in the 2011 S-Rank League. He is the same generation as momoken and now has a professional license.

　He is characterized by a violent play style in which he uses huge multi-attacks that seem like he is attacking with all his might. He uses fierce attacks to force opponents to fire chains or decide matches with one blow. After the opponent fires the chain, he shows a very powerful chain extension. He used the new GTR a lot in the S-Rank League, but since around 2015 he has advocated the Yayoi era as the strongest shape. However, Yayoi era is difficult for even the top players to handle it, and in recent years he has been using a left-turning GTR more often.
　His live commentary is popular with many viewers. He is able to give full-fledged explanations by taking advantage of his high level of understanding of the situation, which is unique to a top-level player. He is also one of the few Japanese players who can provide commentary in English. He wants to spread the appeal of Puyo Puyo beyond Japan and around the world.

　Around 2007, he began attending tournaments at the game center ″Seven Islands″ in Yokohama, which was known as a sacred place for Puyo Puyo.There he became a disciple of ALF. He stood out along with his contemporaries momoken and Squika, and was referred to as one of the ``the new BIG THREE（若手三強, Wakate-San-kyo）''.
　In 2011, he participated in the ``2011 Arcade Puyo Puyo Tsu S-Rank League'' to determine the strongest Puyo player. He defeated Kamestry 100-93, ALF 100-70, and although he lost the match against Kumachom(くまちょむ) 99-100, it is said to be a great match. He lost to momoken 85-100, leaving him in 2nd place with 2 wins and 2 losses (points gained and conceded +21).
　After that, he stopped participating in the S-Rank League, but he did participate in the ``Puyo Puyo Tetris 2015 A-Rank League,'' which was held from December 2015 to February of the following year. Here, it was a round-robin league match between 10 top-level players (there is no "S-Rank", A-Rank is the highest tier), and he won with an outstanding record of 9 wins and 0 losses (points gained and conceded +144). In particular, he won by overwhelming margins of 30-8 against selva and 30-5 against Yoda Souma(ヨダソウマ).

　In December 2016, he participated in the "Redbull 5G 2016 Finals" as one of the East representative players. After the East team won two games in a row in the East-West competition of 5 games in 5 genres, the third event was a competition in the ``PUZZLE genre (Puyo Puyo Tetris)''. In a 2on2 tag battle format, he teamed up with Tetris player Amemiya Taiyo and faced off against West representative Kumachom/HBM, and won with an overwhelming difference in strength.

　When Puyo Puyo's professional system was launched in March 2018, he obtained a JeSU professional license.
　In October 2018, he participated in the "Puyo Puyo Cup October 2018 Tournament" and defeated Kumachom and selva to advance to the top four. Furthermore, he defeated coo in the semi-finals and advanced to the finals. In the final, he fought against fron, who had qualified as a professional at this tournament, but lost and came in second place.
　In May 2019, he participated in the "Puyo Puyo Cup SEASON 2 May Tournament", defeating I-chan(いーちゃん) in the first round, hov in the second round, and Abeshi in the quarterfinals to advance to the top four. Furthermore, in the semi-finals he defeated Yoda Souma to advance to the finals again. His opponent in the final was selva, whom he had defeated many times before, but he struggled against his opponent's attacks and lost in two sets in straight sets, leaving him runner-up.

　In February 2023, he participated in "Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON5 STAGE4". He sparred with Mackey(マッキー) just before competing, and was in perfect condition. He defeated Xyro(ざいろ) and Ricky(リッキー) to advance to the final four, and in the semifinals he won a heated battle with Tomokun(ともくん) to advance to the finals. The final match, in which he was aiming for his first championship, was a showdown with Kumachom, and it was a heated match between the top players of old years. In the first set, he was confident of victory at 4-4, but his opponent reversed the lead and he hung his head. They got to 4-4 in the second set, but he unfortunately lost and finished as 2nd place. He crouched down on the podium, expressing his frustration.

It was his first time participating in the Finals since SEASON2, and he finished the A block preliminaries with 3 wins and 2 losses, and was unable to break through on his own, but because Shiyota lost to Setanagi(せたなぎ), 3 wins and 2 losses was an unprecedented number with 4 people in the same block. As a result, he was rewarded for his close losses of 9-10 against Kumachom and live, and was able to pass the first place with a total score of 48, advancing to his first Finals final. In the finals, he faced Tomokun, who was aiming for a consecutive Finals victory. In the second set, he seemed to be dominated by his opponent's response, and was forced to reach at 5-9, but he showed his strength in the last minute and won four in a row to even the score at 9-9. 　In February 2024, he participated in "Puyo Puyo Grand Prix 2024 2nd", passed the qualifying rounds and advanced to the final tournament for the first time in a Grand Prix. In the first match of the double-elimination format, he lost to Mackey 6-10 and was on the loser's side. On the loser's side, he used his typical fierce attack against reoru to win 10-2, and then defeated live 10-9 to advance to the final four for the first time in a Grand Prix. In the Losers Semi-Finals against delta, he effectively used strong attacks to apply pressure, and in the end he pumped his fists, confident of victory. He won a close match 10-9 and advanced to the Losers' Final, where Mackey awaits. It was a rematch with Mackey, who he lost on the winner's side, and although he bravely prepared for an attack, his opponent played well and was on the back foot, losing 3-10.
