delta

Profile and Career
Delta (born 1995) is one of the top-level professional players. He has been with Shinobism Gaming since May 2021.
His greatest weapon is overwhelming main chain power, which has been described as ``the power of a giant (巨人の火力, Kyojin-no-Karyoku).'' He has an extremely good ability to connect chains from seemingly difficult fields, and shows flexibility in not only main chain battles but also mid-field games by being able to recombine chains. In addition, his chain-linking ability shows its true value in recovering from destructive mid-field and in second chain battles.
In early 2021, he mainly fought using a form called the "delta style." This style seems to have had the advantage of having a wide range of options in the midfield and being able to deceive the opponent, but on the other hand, it was extremely difficult to play. Therefore, he abandoned this style and now mainly uses a left-turning GTR.

He began to rise to prominence around 2015, based in Saitama prefecture's game center ``Daytona Warabi.''
From 2017 to 2018, he participated in the 1st to 3rd "Oiu League" held in "Puyo Puyo Chronicle" and achieved excellent results.
In December 2018, he participated in Sega's official pro/am mixed tournament "Puyo Puyo Cup 2018 December Tournament", and advanced to the top 8 by defeating One-Eyed Shion and Piponeer in the final tournament. He also won the quarterfinals against Kamestry, and at this point qualified for the JeSU official pro license. He went on to win the semifinals against Amemiya Taiyo(あめみやたいよう), and the finals against Pepepeman(ペペペマン), achieving the championship.
Furthermore, at the "Puyo Puyo Championship December 2018 Tournament" held on the same day, he defeated professional players one after another, defeating kuroro in the final and winning the championship for the first time. He won an impressive double title soon after turning professional.

When SEASON 2 (2019) started, in his first tournament "Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON 2 June Tournament", he won the final against Kumachom(くまちょむ) and achieved his second championship victory. It seemed that his strength knew no bounds, but after that he was no longer able to win the official championship for a while.
In February 2020, he participated in the offline tournament "2nd Yamapuyo!" (40 participants) sponsored by Yamatake Pro and won the final against Tomokun(ともくん).
In the same month, at the "Puyo Puyo Cup SEASON 2 February Tokyo Tournament", he defeated TS and Hisha Chu(飛車ちゅう) in the final tournament to advance to the top four. He also won two sets in the semifinals against Titan, advancing to the final where Mackey was waiting. From March 2021, he participated in the ``Puyo Puyo Saikyo League,'' a community-sponsored ranking league, and belonged to the upper league, which is crowded with top-ranked players, for all five seasons (until September 2022).
In the Saikyo League 2021 Season 1 held from March to April 2021, he won the first match against Rain 30-26, but lost the next match to Mackey with a double score of 14-30. He ended up finishing 5th (out of 6) with 2 wins and 3 losses (-18). Since he was in the relegation zone (bottom two), he was forced to participate in the replacement tournament held in the same month. In that tournament, he made it to the winners' final, but lost to SAKI 17-30. However, he won the losers final against Yoda Souma 30-20 and returned to the Saikyo league.
In the Saikyo League 2021 Season 2 held from May to June 2021, he declared that he would gave up the "delta style". He reverted to his previous style with GTRs and Fukigen-GTRs. momoken, his opponent in the first match, said, ``That's very disappointing. I don't hope he quit that style.'' He expressed his caution. He lost his first match in the first round against momoken 19-30 and won against Tomokun 30-20. He then lost consecutive matches to Mackey 20-30 and Piponeer 17-30. Although he won against SAKI, who newly joined the league, he finished the first round with a record of two wins and three losses. However, in the second round, he won again against Tomokun, and against Piponeer, to whom he lost by a large margin in the first round, won 30-29 after a close battle. He also defeated SAKI, and finally finished in 3rd place with 5 wins and 5 losses (-24), an improvement over the previous season.
In the Saikyo League 2021 Season 3 from July to September 2021, he started with a win against Yoda Souma 30-29 in the first match, but after that, consecutive losses continued and he finished the first round with 1 win and 4 losses. He lost in the second round to Mackey and momoken, resulting in six consecutive losses. In the third match of the second round, he defeated Tomokun 30-21 to end his losing streak, but ultimately finished in fifth place with three wins and seven losses (-29).
In November 2021, he competed in the playoffs (50 match) against Piponeer, who had the same points, for the right to participate in the Saikyo League 2021 Climax Season. The match was close at the beginning, but he gradually took control of the pace and widened the gap, winning 50-31 and advancing to the climax season.
In the Saikyo League 2021 Climax Season held in December 2021, he lost the first match against momoken 42-50. However, on the second day, in the first 50 against Mackey, he fought a fierce battle that is said to be the greatest match of the century, winning 50-49. In the post-match interview, he couldn't help but express his joy, saying, ``This is the happiest victory I've ever had.''(→video) However, he lost his third match against Tomokun, 38-50, and finished 4th in the year with 1 win and 2 losses (-19).

In March 2022, he faced a replacement match against Shiyota, who finished 2nd in the lower league after finishing 5th in the previous season. In this game, he achieved a decisive victory with a score of 30-17, and succeeded in remaining in Saikyo league.
On the other hand, in the official tournament, he participated in the "Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON 5 STAGE 1" in April 2022 and made it to the top four, and won the match against Xyro(ざいろ) in the semifinals with a record score of 5-1 in both sets. He advanced to the finals where live was waiting. In the final match, he showed off his strengths and won the first set by firing up 16 chains, but in the second set his opponent improved and won back. In the final set, both players showed great concentration and the score was 4-4. In the final match, the opponent drew a purple puyo at the end of the chain stretch, and was thought to be blessed by the goddess of victory. However, delta nullified this with a great second chain and gained the upper hand, going on to win. He won the championship for the first time in three seasons (two years and 10 months) by winning one of the most famous matches in championship history. At the moment of victory, he stood up, gave a fist pump, and smiled.
In the Puyo Puyo Saikyo League 2022 Season 1 held from April to June 2022, he lost to Mackey 23-30 in the first match, and then narrowly lost the match against momoken 26-30. However, against meta, who was participating in the league for the first time, he achieved a landslide victory of 30-11, the largest point difference in his career. After that, he defeated Tomokun and Piponeer, and finally won 3 wins, 2 losses (+18), and won 3rd place for the second time in the Saikyo League. Also, for the first time in his career, he finished with more wins and a positive point difference.
In the Saikyo League 2022 Season 2 from June to September 2022, he defeated Yoda Souma 30-18 in the first match, but suffered a crushing defeat to Mackey in the next match, 11-30, which was close to a triple score. After that, he lost to Piponeer and momoken, resulting in 1 win and 3 losses, and in the final match he had to face Tomokun to stay in the league. Although it would depend on the results of the other remaining games, the minimum requirement for staying was to win by at least four points. The match against Tomokun was a high-calorie match in which the players battled for every moment of opportunity from start to finish, making it one of the best matches in the Saikyo league. He held a small lead all the way to the final stage, but his opponent finally caught him at 26-26. In the 28-27 match, he fired an amazing 7-chain technically using Persian style and went on to win 30-27. However, he ended up in 5th place with 2 wins and 3 losses. He was in the relegation zone, but the Saikyo league ended with this season.
In November 2022, he participated in the "Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON 5 STAGE 3" with new gaming glasses. He defeated meta, then Titan, and Ricky in the first match to advance to the finals. In the final after Piponeer, he lost the first set due to the momentum of his opponent, but after that he dominated the game and won the final set 5-0. With this, he won the championship for the second time this season and his fourth overall. He is the third person to win the championship twice in the same season, following Kumachom in SEASON 1 and Piponeer in SEASON 3.
In February 2023, at the ``13th Hisha Puyo!'', he defeated Heyomaha in the semifinals and live in the finals, winning the tournament for the second time.
At the ``Puyo Puyo Finals SEASON 5'' in March 2023, which was his first appearance in three seasons, he achieved a good result of 3 wins and 2 losses in the qualifying round, but because Tomokun won 4 wins in his block, he was unable to pass the qualifying round.

On September 10, 2023, he competed in the "Puyo Puyo New Hero Festival" (355 participants). Although he had the misfortune of facing fron in the first match, he made it through to the quarterfinals on the winner's side, losing to Kumachom 2-5 and heading to the loser's side. After that, he defeated Taichi and Gulliver and had a rematch with Kumachom in the loser's quarterfinals, this time winning 3-1 and advancing to the final four. In the loser's semifinal, he faced Mackey, who had defeated momoken, but he made several mistakes and was suppressed by his opponent's tight moves, losing in straight sets 0-5. His final result was 4th place out of 355 participants.
In January 2024, he participated in the official offline "Puyo Puyo Cup in Tokyo eSports Festa 2024" (128 participants), passed both the first and second qualifying rounds with no wins and advanced to the final tournament. Furthermore, he defeated Norasuke and Echigo to advance to the top four. This is his fourth time in about four years to advance to the final four of the Puyo Puyo Cup, the first being at the ``SEASON 2 February Tokyo Tournament'' where he won (he won the last three times). He won the semi-final against SK39 5-3 to advance to his fourth Puyo Cup final. In the final against Tomokun, he won the first set in straight sets, 5-0. However, in the second set, the opponent's response started to improve and the match was taken back at 0-5. His opponent took control in the final set, but in the final match he performed such a spectacular rally that commentator Tom described as ``I've never seen it before.'' In the end, he lost 3-5 and took second place.
