Profile and Career
Live(pronounced as “lívé” not “lάɪv”, born 1989) is a veteran professional player who has been active as a top player for a long time since days on AC Puyo Puyo Tsu. He is now nicknamed "The Conqueror (覇王,Ha-Oh)".
He is characterized by a technical play style that uses not only the orthodox GTR, but also the new GTR, which has become less popular in recent years, as well as various bases such as fron style, Meri-chain, and rarely Persian. His signature tactic is to use L-shaped stances in the midfield to guide the opponent's attacks and gain an advantage in response. As evidenced by the variety of his shapes, he has excellent chain linking skills, and is well-regarded for his ability to connect complex chains and create second chains.
He is originally from Hokkaido and moved to Kanto after graduating from high school.
Since the late 2000s, he has made a name for himself through online Puyo Puyo matches (such as on ``Puyo Puyo 2 Channel'').
In the "3rd Puyo Puyo Japan-Korea Match" held in August 2010, he participated as a member of the Japanese team along with other top players such as Kumachom(くまちょむ) and momoken.

Also, in 2017, he won the community tournament "2nd Great Power Conquest Match (第2回列強争覇戦, Rekkyou-Sou-Ha-Sen)" and received the title "Conqueror".
At the end of March 2018, he obtained the JeSU Pro License at the same time as the Puyo Puyo Pro System was established. Since then, he has been active and has achieved good results in numerous tournaments.
In September 2018, he participated in the "Puyo Puyo Championship TGS 2018 Special Tournament" and defeated Mackey in the first match. He went on to defeat Tom and selva, and also won against MATTYAN in the semi-finals, advancing to the final of the championship for the first time. His opponent in the finals was Xyro(ざいろ), known as "Lightning Speeder(疾風迅雷,Shippu-Jinrai)". In the final match, both players scored over 100,000 points, but he was defeated by his opponent's brilliant 11-point second chain. It was a memorable final, but he finished in second place.

At the ``National Interprefectural Esports Championship 2020 KAGOSHIMA'' held in December 2020, he won the Kanto block preliminaries by defeating hov and Tomokun, and participated in the finals as a representative of the Kanto block. He passed the DAY1 block preliminaries with all five wins and remained in the top four. In the semifinals of DAY2, he defeated fron in a close 10-9 match and advanced to the finals. In the final match, he defeated Osaka representative Yoshi 10-5 and won the championship. Although this tournament was held online due to the coronavirus pandemic, he won the big title of national champion.
In April 2021, he participated in the community tournament "8th Hisha Puyo! Online" (40 participants) and won the final against fron.
In June 2021, he finally achieved his long-awaited first championship victory at “Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON4 STAGE1.” In this tournament, he defeated Isana, Hisha Chu, and Titan, and defeated SAKI in the semifinals to advance to his second final of the championship. In the final match, he overpowered Yoda Souma and won the championship. After finishing in the top four or better seven times, he finally achieved the crown as a true. In an interview after winning, he said, ``Until now, I haven't been able to play normally.Today I want to go home, cry a little bit, and then move forward again.''
Four months later, he continued his momentum at "Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON4 STAGE2". He defeated Xyro, MATTYAN, and meta in the semifinals to advance to the finals for the second consecutive tournament. He was expected to win the championship consecutively, but lost to Piponeer in the final and finished in second place.
In the same month, when a lower league was established within the ``Puyo Puyo Saikyo League'', he was eligible to participate in it by being recommended by a vote of the top players. Thus began his first lower league (called the 2nd division), and he narrowly lost to fron 28-30 in the first match. He then defeated Isana 30-16, but lost three other matches and ended up in last place with 1 win and 4 losses (-4). However, not only the fights against fron but also the matches against meta and Shiyota were very close at 29-30 and 27-30, so if he had won these, he would have been in first place with 4 wins and 1 loss.

In April 2022, he participated in "Puyo Puyo Championship SEASON5 STAGE1". He defeated Kumachom, MGR, and Shiyota, and in the semifinals faced Mackey, who had returned to the pros. He won this and advanced to the final for the fourth time. The final against delta was an extremely heated match that is considered the most exciting match in the history of the championship. In the first set, he lost 5-1 due to the quality of his opponent, but in the second set he improved and won 5-2. In the final set, his opponent took control and he was on the brink of 1-4. However, he did not give up and showed his strength, making the score 4-4. In the final match, after firing a chain of destructive responses, he was forced to make a very difficult recovery, but with some luck he succeeded in firing the main chain. It looked like the goddess of victory was smiling on him, but he was defeated by his opponent's amazing second chain. It was his third runner-up.
In May 2022, he participated in the online tournament "TWCUP Puyo Puyo vol.02" (50 participants) sponsored by TEQWING e-sports, winning the quarterfinals against Shiino(椎野) and advancing to the top four. He also won the semi-final against Shokora 5-3 to advance to the final. In the final, he faced Charumera(ちゃるめらー), the Saikyo lower league player, but he won two sets in a row, showing off his dignity and winning the championship.
Meanwhile, he re-entered the lower league of the Saikyo League 2022 Season 1, which was held from April to June 2022, by winning the selection tournament held the previous month. He lost his first match against Shiyota 18-30 and his next match against Yoda Souma in a close 29-30 match. Even after that, he was not able to show his best performance, and in the end, he finished in 5th place with 2 wins and 3 losses (-5), and was once again in the relegation zone.
However, he won the selection tournament again without any problems and earned the right to participate in the next lower league. Then, he participated in the Saikyo League 2nd Division 2022 Season 2, which was held from June to September 2022. It was his third appearance. In his first match, he defeated Waffle(わっふる), who had also played in the selection tournament, 30-19. In the following match against SAKI, he took control of the match in the first half and extended the lead to 20-11, but after that he became a little stiffer and allowed his opponent to catch up, making the score 23-23. Then, he was reversed at the last minute and suffered a heartbreaking 29-30 loss. His next match was a close one against fron, where he lost 25-30, and another close match against meta, which he won 30-28. In the final match against Shiyota, although he had the upper hand in the first half, he gradually caught up in the second half and was caught up 23-23, and ultimately lost 29-30. It was a frustrating defeat that felt like a complete reenactment of the SAKI match. As a result, he finished in 5th place with 2 wins and 3 losses (+7), putting him in the relegation zone. However, the Saikyo League ended at the end of this season.

In the final tournament, which was held in a double-elimination format, the first match was a shutout victory over Muu, 10-0. He then defeated Ricky 10-5 and faced Mackey in the Winners Final. Here, his diversionary tactic of setting up a large midfield was so effective, as he was able to disrupt the opponent's pace. In the 5-5 match, he was at a disadvantage in the main chain battle and was on the verge of suffocation, with a chance of defeat, but luckily he managed to draw one-eighth(ハチイチ,hachi-ichi) and come back from the dead, seizing control of the match. In the end, he held the lead and won 10-8. Later, in the grand final, Mackey appeared again from the loser's side. Although he had the advantage as the winners, before the match he said, ``I'm going into it with the mindset of a challenger,'' aiming for his first Grand Prix victory. The first set was a see-saw game, and at 6-7, he was hit by opponent’s 2-triple and was almost losing, but he succeeded in digging down and to tied the score. Howerver his opponent's uncompromising play gave him trouble. He lost 8-10. Both players were now on the losing side, and the final battle was next. In the final set, his opponent took control from the beginning, and he lost 5-10, leaving him in second place.
