Mahara

Profile and Career
Mahara(まはーら) is an unknown but legendary strong player who suddenly appeared in "Puyo Puyo Chronicle" around 2018 and disappeared at the end of the year.
His playing style was specialized in left-turning GTR. He had advanced techniques such as multiple turnings using L-shapes and Zabuton, and chain tails that maximized saturated main chain power, and this was a highly efficient chain construction that no one else could match at the time. Furthermore, he was known for his ability to anticipate the actions of his opponents and his exceptionally accurate judgment.
Although he was only active for a short period of time, his influence on the current Puyo Puyo competition scene is extremely large. It is no exaggeration to say that he is one of the players who brought about changes in the history of Puyo Puyo.
His unparalleled strength and tactical choices and procedures specialized for efficient victory were a great inspiration to the top players, including Mackey(マッキー), who was the most directly influenced by him. This has encouraged technological development such as raising the saturation firepower and developing multiple turnings, and even brought about a change in play style for momoken and others who have experienced the era of AC Puyo Puyo Tsu, which was the heyday of right-turnings. The achievements he left behind are tremendous. He can be said to be the player who pioneered the transformation of Puyo Puyo's competitive environment into one where left-turning GTR became the mainstream.

In December 2017, in order to participate in the ``2nd Oiu League'' sponsored by Piponeer, he participated in the ``A1 level participant determination tournament'' among the top rate ranking players. He then defeated reoru 30-27 and Piponeer 30-11, and was confirmed to belong to the A1 League.
In the A1 league, he defeated all players in the league: Rein(レイン), meta, TS, Yoda Souma(ヨダソウマ), and fron. With his overwhelming record of 5 wins and 0 losses (+62), he won the championship and moved on to the S-Class replacement match.
In the "S-Class Replacement Match" held in February 2018, he played a three-person round robin with Mackey and Kumachom(くまちょむ). He defeated Mackey 50-25 and Kumachom 50-26, almost a double score, to qualify for the S-Class League. In addition, Mackey was also promoted to S class as 2nd place.
At the ``2nd Oiu League S Class'' held in February and March of the same year, he had a round-robin battle with five of the top players at the time: Mackey, delta, Youkan(ようかん), Airi, and Shiyota. This was essentially a league that determined the best players of the time.
In the first match, he dominated the delta opponent with his triple score pace from the beginning. He won 50-31 despite being given back a bit in the middle. The next match against Shiyota (Shotapero) was a close battle in the first half, but he won nine straight in the middle and widened the lead, eventually winning 50-34. In the third match against Mackey, he started winning in a row as if he had released his limiter and built a 10-point lead, but in the second half he showed an ironclad defense, allowing only 3 points to his opponent, and won 50-30.
In the fourth game against Yokan, the internet connection went out at 21-18, and after restarting, he lost the lead and allowed 30 points to his opponent at 29-30. However, right after that, he continued to play flawlessly from the midfield to the main chain and secondary, winning an unprecedented 13 consecutive games. He showed incredible concentration and won 50-37. In the final match, he played against Airi, and he again won in the final stages, winning 50-36.
In the end, he won the S class championship with an overwhelming record of 5 wins and 0 losses (+82), and was recognized with a great impact as the new champion of the Puyo Puyo world. In addition, he showed saturation firepower that far exceeded the common sense at the time, and the ability to maintain a good form that at first glance seemed to be focusing on building the main chain, but was actually able to switch to responses and attacks at any time. His play was seen as breaking the conventional theory of right-turning and focusing on response, and opening up a new perspective.
